I NEED BRAKE ROTORS THAT...

WON'T WARP!!!

Any ideas?

 

Power slots are the best. They assist in keeping the rotors from getting too hot and they wisk water away.

 

What are you doing that is getting your rotors that hot and bent outta shape??

 

Do not ride your brakes. That will cause warpage and glazing of the pads.

 

Are Power Slots a brand, or just another name for slotted?

idk. But if it was me I would just google search it.

 

I'm not going to say I'm easy on brakes, but I know how to not over heat them, I don't ride them, I just get on them hard from time to time. What finished these off was the mountains of Vermont. I have a transmission problem (that no one can figure out) where at certain RPMs I get a horrible grinding on acceleration and de-acceleration, so I have no choice but to ride them a little longer than I would like.

I the flat lands its usually idiots that are driving 80 and then suddenly decide they would rather be doing 50 that starts the process... that and automatic car washes. I've learned to not go through those after driving 400 miles non stop on the highway.

Thanks. I would have looked it up, but I'm diving back to Texas right now to pack warmer clothes, then take off for Montana (work).

What about pads? I know BMW uses a softer pad, true they wear faster, but they run cooler. Does something like that exist for our tacos?

 

UM, you seriously need to examine your driving habits if your warping rotors this soon. I had an 05 AC 4x4 for 5 years, railed it around the twisty mountains of the Pacific Northwest for like a sports car. I am notoriously hard on my cars, trucks, and bikes. I dont think twice about blowing things up in the persuit of driving them like I stole them. Plus I tow multiple sized trailers without brakes and have NEVER had any issues, not even a little fade or wierdness. I traded that in for a DCSB 4x4 earlier this year and dumped every power adder onto it (SC, CAI, exhaust, etc) and again, I thrash it like I stole it and the brakes are more than enough...

So again, if your warping rotors. Something is amiss, be it either the truck or your driving habits!!!

Get on http://www.tirerack.com then get some Hawk pads and Brembo OEM replacement rotors

 

If you heat your brakes up quite bit with whatever your doing then go with a slotted rotor...not drilled....slotted. It will allow the heat to escape much quicker...

 

How exactly does that work?

Can we apply some basic physics here?

Seriously though, not to bag on ya. I run my truck hard and have never had an issue, and I think the brakes are top notch. Better than most in fact. You could just have an issue with the truck.

On a side note, here is so you know I am not full of shit, at least not completly...








So as you can see, I do alot of towing, hauling, and general high speed shenanigans with my truck and toys, and honestly i have never had any issues with the brakes. And I have had to mash the brakes hard with a load and without on them, no issues.

Thank you to the guys who offered recommendations, that's what I was looking for. I was hoping for a quicker, cheaper solution than brembo, but I just have Monday to get it done.

Looks like I'll just have to hope the dealer has rotors and pads in stock.

I probably should have noted carmax probably put these rotors on. I don't know wtf kind they put on, but as much as they claim to use OEM parts, I'm seriously doubting these are. It didn't take long for these to warp, I had them turned, and it took this one trip to warp them again.
