2020 paint made of cheese?

Thats also an idea, i was thinking about that as well actually. Just a bit pricey. I will rock the ceramic coating for now.

 

Honestly its just like applying wax, the only difference is if you dont buff out some areas, they cure like that. The only way to fix is, remove with polishing compound, then redo it.

 

Japanese paint is always trash. Only things worse are Chinese cars and Tesla.

Not entirely. The Magnetic Grey Metallic on my moms Rav4 built in Japan is better quality than a 3rd Gen in the same MGM color built in San Antonio or Baja

 

Tesla is even worse?

Maybe the paint the Japanese use is "less environmentally friendly"?

 

Can confirm MGM scratches when you look at it. I have lots of scratches by my door handles and never wear my wedding ring, its just from my fingers touching it. Truck is 6 months with like 3500 miles so its not like I've used the doors a bunch. Also looks worse dirty than my grey 06 4Runner, but that's just because that was pretty much faded to matte grey lol.

 

For guys that go off road a lot GOAT ARMOR is very cool idea. Google it, i dont know how to link it here.

 

I’m not as worried about minor scratches as I am of swirl marks. I hate seeing a nice Tacoma in the sun with all the swirl marks on the paint and skin oils on the doors

 

When i spoke with the dealer, they had me listen to what their service manager had to say about the paint especially if the truck sits outside all its life. He basically begged me to get their lifetime simonize glass coat treatment that covers not only the exterior but the interior also. So far pretty impressed with it. I live down a stone covered dirt road. Everyday i hear rocks peppering the outside of the truck not to mention the highways are fairly congested here. I just wish this was available on my gen1 tundra at the time.

 

Toyota/Lexus Black sucks. Toyota white also blows.

 

Most people do not know how to properly wash a vehicle. They do more damage washing if anything.

Yeah. A good friend of mine buys and sells automotive paint companies(weird job I know) and he and I have talked in depth about this as I have a mild rust paranoia. China and Tesla at the bottom, Japan above them, America somewhat overlapping Japan but some standouts like the Corvette are better, and the Germans are in a league of their own with Mercedes using the best of the best.

 

They even have a totally different washer fluid that mercedes uses that won't harm paint.
