    Just the basics
I learned from my father (different era-started in the 50s) that he would only allow closed toed shoes and pants for all passengers on his own aircraft. I asked him why and he asked me if I would like to imagine managing an inflight fire/emergency with melting plastic dripping onto bare skin. That's all I needed.

Same. I also sit toward the rear of the wing. I do take the risk of having the window seat any time I can get it though, because I didn't fly so I can watch the drink cart.

I fly in shorts because it’s just too hot in a piston single here in the summer. I’ll take my chances with melting plastic burns on my legs.

Keep your takeoff:landing ratio at 1 to 1 and I suspect you'll be good.

Fvck, do NA pistons even get to take off in the Lone Star heat?

They do, but you’ll be sitting in sweat if you’re wearing long pants
VFR, no issues. Sometimes we get flight following as a multi-ship formation. Just depends on where we are flying

I sweat like a pig. If it’s over 40 degrees, I’m in shorts. Maybe long sleeves, but still shorts.

it’s supposed to be mid 30s in the morning and I’m debating pants vs shorts. It will be in the 70s coming home in the evening.

Sounds great. You are supposed to make mistakes while learning. Don’t worry, you’ll make worse ones before you get it all figured out.
Took me awhile to really understand and apply pitch for speed and power for altitude. After all, in a car, more gas means go faster.

I like to think I knew some of the basic theories beforehand, but the muscle memories haven't formed at all yet. I spent most of my time trying to make the gauges show me what I wanted that I feel I barely looked out the windows at all. The instructor made note of that; he even accused me of being a simulator pilot! I had to tell him my last experience with a flight simulator was FS' 5.1 for DOS back in '95 when I was a kid.

I kinda wish we had gone a little slower so I could develop a nice level-flight sight picture.

Also, I don't know how common this is, but about midway through my day yesterday, I started developing a splitting headache and went to bed pretty much right after work. I think I cooked my brain on the morning flight. lol.

Spent the day on the mower. It takes WAY longer with a 48” deck instead of the batwing, but boy does it cut nicely.

Which model Kubota you got there? I just bought a BX23S. No mower deck. If my Husqvarna lawn tractor ever gives out on me, I'll probably just get a mid mount deck for the Kubota. It's a matter of minutes to remove the loader and backhoe, and you're ready to mow.

That is a BX2380. It’s got the front end loader as well as a brush hog implement, however those items are rarely used. The belly deck is what gets used 90% of the time.

Too bad Congress can’t work together like this.

Cooperation trumps rivalry, great example of working together between competing teams.

Finally got to see my favorite airplane in person yesterday. Two B2s from Whiteman airforce base did a fly over of St. Louis, Jefferson City, and Springfield. Such an insane shape to see flying overhead.

Did both planes come in low in Springfield area? One did a low pass in Jeff City and the other stayed high.
