Nothing like me mobbing in 4 high second gear coming around a switchback realizing there’s a dip in the road that drifted over and lay down the hammer and come to a grinding stop and have to back out around an off camber corner to get another run and slide off the fucken road.

 

@bobsuruncle fj case swap is next on my list, especially after hearing Marlin is gonna make 4.7 gears for them. Seems like a better and cheaper option than a doubler and you can keep the drive lines.

To increase your search results, 2012+ t4r uses the same case. Some sr5 models and all the trail edition and TRD pro models come with the same tcase.

Yeah you don't have to concentrate only on the fj cruiser cases.

 

I’m not exactly looking yet for one, but if I stumbled across one and had a little extra cash I wouldn’t pass it up and put it in the going in the truck parts pile.

 

Weird shit with my factory head unit today. Pushed a button to change the channel and the display went spazzing out in Japanese. . . Then ejected the cds... now volume only works on steering wheel and most buttons do nothing... did a quick shitty search and did see anything.

 

So what is the opinion of mixing lockers?
Factory E locker in rear and ARB air locker in front.

 

Perfectly fine IMO. Be more worried on mixing gear ratios than what locker is front/rear if you upgrade one and not the other. The front locker shouldnt be used to often as it puts a lot of stress on everything (cv's in particular)

N.T.L. that is my setup in my 1st gen DCSB, works well but have the awareness of:
- Factory E locker sometimes takes a bit of wheel travel to engage/disengage
- ARB air locker is on/off instant

 

Finally got ahold of the clowns working there and was told that I probably lost the bolt in the hour between my maintenance and when I checked it?? And was told at first that I would have to pay to get it replaced but after talking to 3 different people they were finally able to cover the cost of the replacement. Glad this was my last Toyota care free service because from here on out I’m doing these services my self

 

It’s what I have had for the last 8 years. No issues.

 

Going to regear in the next couple of months. Am thinking of putting in one. Will it interfere with crawl control?
