I imagine that in part dispersed camping is closed because they are trying to dissuade people from traveling around at all. If we all go up to the remote northern WI or the UP we get people sick by going up there, they’d be screwed without nearby hospitals or many ventilators etc.

I read an article about why they were dissuading people from going to Moab, that hospital is tiny and only had like six ventilators, outbreaks in rural/remote areas brought on by tourists would screw those places.

plus WI is one of the few states on the rise right now...

    yes. also that

people were treating it as free vacation time across the country so the visitor centers and stuff were packed... which is the opposite of what you want.

I love that part of the state. We used to camp near Medford every summer (Mondeaux Flowage), and explored the area a lot.

The Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail runs through Thorp. I'll bet you know of some good side roads we could check out up there.

I'm planning on heading to the north end of it this summer and working down to Clam Lake.

Something showed up today. First mod for the wife’s T4R. These things are way more heavy duty than the tin ones that come stock.

That's good to know! I fish the Chippewa River quite a bit in the summer, mostly near Meridean.

Was it you who recommended "X offroad" for maps? I just downloaded it and subscribed for a year.

    Looks good!

They must be better than the stock off road ones then. Mine was pretty totaled after one trip to the Pipeline.

They are at least a 1/4” possibly 3/8” thick and mine was made in Canada $266.00 from Bam wholesale. I was concerned the shape it would be in judging from the box when it arrived. Must be why the driver never knocked when he delivered it.

That would be pretty heavy! Most aftermarket skids are 3/16" steel or 1/4" aluminum.

Are you really close to there? I have access to some land on the river just downstream from there. We're right where the main river and the side channel meet back up. I really like the area! Good fishing, not too many people..

Out of curiosity, are you on Lake-Link?

The stock ones are like tinfoil. These are 1/4 aluminum

Haha, yup! It did it's job, but got demolished in the process. I feel a lot better having the SOS skids.

    Ok. I was just curious.

I'm going to be up on the river next weekend. I'll keep my eyes open for a blue Tacoma!

Is there such a thing as a floating skid plate?
