    Just waiving Hello

Bill in K-W mining service tips for my 90 series Land Cruiser Prado which has been on the roads of Ontario for about a week and a half now.

It was a pain in the Arse to get plated with both RIV Phat Phingering the VIN into the interprovincial database and the Zombie apocalypse

Ran across this thread searching for the copper crush for the front diff.

Your profile says Northern Ontario? Where about? One of the reasons for this truck was to go back and forth to the plot we bought on the far end of Manitoulin.

They have them in various locations/cities to share the drive.
Plus there are the field trips to Rays place 4x4 park and to Ardburg,
First page/post in this thread has a calendar for the dates places,
and pics from previous meets and playtimes.
Everything from mud, trees to laughing your ass off in a parking lot swapping parts and peeking under vehicles.

Don't worry that the Calendar is kinda empty at the moment,
some Russian virus thing kinda cleared it out until we're not so contagious.

Lol it's a small world eh?

OK - I seen the Haffner meet up - Haffner is kinda sorta why I ended up with the Prado ..

In short I have a High and dry Santefe after being downsized (24.5 yrs) 5 yrs ago and having to drive to a new job in Burlington. We had an Expidition at the time along with a Mitsubishi Pajero. After a year I was hired back at the old place but still decided to keep the Santa Fe

Then I got tired of it (the High and Dry) and started to look for a Pick up - Either the frontier or a Taco.. Started looking at 9K and they were all kinda rough - so looked at 15K and said well they are OK, but look what you get for 20 , then and then oh boy for 30 you get soo much more... Then all the way up to the pinnacle, a 2016 Taco pro with 66K and a 6 speed... But it was 39K before taxes and fees. I could afford it But...

We have a property down south in Nicaragua as well as the one on Manitoulin (Neither as extravagant as you think) and could not swing a truck like that here _and_ something reliable there.

So I had a Pajero/Montero 2.5L TD right hand on the road from 2005 to 2017. I thought I would take a look around at RHD again - Was a hairs breath from buying a surf (4runner) when this one came up and my broker snagged it for $8800 landed in Vancouver, another couple K to get to Ontario, and then Taxes, tires and safety to get it on the road.

Haffner still had that '16 when I last looked beginning Mid March and it was down too $36K

3" lift. $10K in TRD options. Richie's semi-hidden bumper, and soon his Elka suspension
I wish that manual '16 Pro was there when I was Taco shopping! No manuals to be found and I ended up buying an auto... :annoyed::facepalm:IT's a beautiful truck, but I absolutely hate the slushbox!

I don't have FB, so can't see your pics of the LC.

Burlington, I worked there many moons ago for one of westinghouse air brake divisions, for their cnc machining.

I was driving a 4l Mazda/Ranger, with a commercial cap on it, great little truck but I was getting tired of fixing things on it,
one day as I was cutting off the old rear shackles and hangers,
and a nice red hot end of a bolt drops down on my face mask and burns through and lands on my glasses....
It was then I had the realization that I'm getting too old to be lying on my back in the driveway in the middle of winter fixing my daily driver....
I was looking at the Pro4x's but don't really like Nissan since the were taken over by Renault. Was worried that when it went for the next refresh they would probably turn it into a ridgline type thing. Thought they were a great little truck but I also wanted something a little bigger for when I have my winter work gear on.
In the Ranger sometimes it would get hard to slam the doors shut when you have full parka and pants.

And there were more aftermarket toys for the Taco's, and I had worked with more Toyota people so figured I would have a better handle on it if any issues ever came up.

I figured with a new truck I would not be screwing around with it much.... could work on other projects....

Then a friend sent me a few custom parts....
Then I found Tacomaworld and this little sanitarium....
Then somehow the truck got about 500 lbs heavier, my wallet got lighter, driveway got covered in mud and the wife got noisier.

Nicaragua is an awesome country! I was there in 2012 on a motorcycle trip. You can still buy a new Land Cruiser pick up there, https://www.autonica.com/autos/toyota-lc70/ . Plus they have the Hilux, https://www.autonica.com/autos/toyota-hilux/ and the Tacoma.

Yes - My wife was born there, emigrated in 87 - Met her in 90 - We have been bouncing back and forth for the past 16 years - 6 yrs ago we bought a 35' by 75' plot and started building piecemeal - We were to be down there from the 18th to the 4th when all this happened. There is a public thread of pix on our build on da faze book...

The garage is purposely built to accept a Hi-Lux or Prado. 75 weeks before we split time between there and here if this Zombie apocalypse does not throw that entire plan in the toilet.

I just checked - It is still there - I recalled the year wrong - It was a 2017 and now they want 35K for it... Looks like I would have have flushed 4K down the toilet if I bought it at 39K
