Hi, guys. I'm in the market for a trailer and my budget is around $5000. My initial thoughts was buying a either 6x12 or 7x14 and convert it. My plan is insulating the wall, putting fold beds, vent fan, and wiring system. But this badboy pops out on facebook. It has AC and a complete wiring system comes from factory (I assume the factory does bettter job than me). Another pro of this trailer is the aluminum body which is an add-on feature for me. But the trailer is a 2004 model and the owner wants $4500. I'm wondering should I spend that much on an old trailer like that? If not, any other suggestions? Located in Pennsylvania. Any motorcycle guys in TacoWrold?

    Thanks for your guys opinion!

Trailers don’t have a motor or transmission so they age differently than cars. How are the tires? If they are original they should be replaced. Other rubber seals? Rust on the frame? Wheel bearings?

I haven't checked the trailer in person yet. But the owner said the tires are in good shape. The frame is aluminum so I'll check for corrosion. The only thing I'm worried about is the age of the trailer since it's a 2004 model. I never owned a trailer personally so never taken care one.

Obviously, my trailer sees very different use, but my boat is on a 1983 Teenee trailer. Now my trailer may only see 3000 miles of on road use in a busy year, more like 1500 in an average year. I live in the Northeast/midAtlantic and I clean the rust every year, and replace bearings every 3, even with limited use. There is very little "wear and tear" compared to a vehicle. As long as wheels/tires, bearings, wiring, and any sort of suspension it may have are maintained, trailers can last a very long time.

I'll keep these in mind when inspecting the trailer. Thanks for the reply!

Check the lights and wiring carefully, they're not nearly as carefully wired as cars.

I'll tow it with the Tundra. My 2007 4.7 should be able to haul it.

The owner said it's 1500lb. Sounds fair to me but I haven't check with the VIN yet.

I would think something without sides and dual wheels like that would be at least 1000. But again I have very little experi

Aluminum trailers bring a premium, that one looks decent for the age. Check for signs of roof leakage, always a concern on an older trailer. Consider tires, tread don't mean shit on trailer tires, dry-rot kills 'em. Shown 'em $4K in hand and I'll bet you'll pull it home.
