I'm no race car driver, but I noticed no gain/loss in performance. Drove the exact same as stock. I do drive pretty conservatively though.

265ft/lbs of torque is all there.

Remember, this V6 engine is not designed for stump-pulling low-end torque.

The TRD exhaust is designed by Toyota.
I live at 7000' and drive between 4000'-12000' and have not had a 'loss' of torque problem due to the TRD exhaust.

Living at 7000', I have a natural loss of 21%+/- HP and torque due to less oxygen.

If it has no drone might be worth looking into. I did hear some YouTube clips and it sounds a bit raspy which I don’t want on a truck. It’s nearly impossible to tell what it actually sounds like in real life though.

Is the Borla louder than the TRD?

I wish Motordyne that makes 370z exhausts made one for the Tacoma. That thing makes the V6 sound incredible and deep.

It is. My suggestion is to reach out to local members with different aftermarket exhausts. I think that'll be the best way to gauge which exhaust you think is worth the money. Vids and other people's accounts are so subjective.

Coming from a person that isn’t mechanically inclined I was surprised at how easy the install was. I didn’t even lift the truck to get it installed. Save the money and do it yourself.

I haven't heard the TRD exhaust so I can't compare the two

It is considerably louder than the stock exhaust.

I installed the TRD exhaust right after purchase then had to bring my truck back to get leather installed. They gave me a Tacoma for a loaner for the day, so I was able to easily compare the two. I can definitely say that the price is worth it. I easily noticed a huge change in sound once I hopped out of my stock rental and back into my truck.

I have the TRD Pro that comes with the exhaust, and I test drove a regular Tacoma and it was so quiet. I immediately returned the regular one and went back for the Pro. It is nice and deep sound. It does not overpower, so if loud is what you want I would not get this one. I think its very tasteful. Makes it sounds more like a truck than a four banger, or even a measly v6.

I installed the TRD Pro cat-back exhaust on my 2018 and though pricey, I'am very pleased with it. It isn't just LOUD (as in no muffler) like some after-market exhaust but it's got a very deep throaty tone.
It doesn't increase HP but does give the illusion of more power.

It took me about 40 minutes (by myself) to change mine on the ground (no jacking needed). I call bull-shit on anyone who says they can do it in 20 minutes.

    Installation Tips:
    • Soak your flange bolts and rubber hangers in WD40 the night before you are to do the work.
    • Tape paper or cloth padding around your exhaust tip for protection. If you don't it will get scratched up.
    • The most time consuming step for me was routing your new exhaust around the axle. I recommend laying your new exhaust parallel to the axle and then basically turning/wrapping the front end (curve) around the axle while turning the tip end out the side as you go.

I don't believe you have to worry about a warranty as the TRD Cast-Back is all stainless and should last a very long time. It actually weights about twice as much as the OEM exhaust you are removing.

looks good man, but don’t call BS on the 20 minutes just because it took you twice as long. It’s one piece with two bolts and a few hangers.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but 20 minutes total, that seems crazy? Or 20 minutes to remove old exhaust and another 20 to install new exhaust? This sounds more realistic.

    Have you actually installed one?

Still calling BS, as it took my buddy who is a school bus mechanic an hour and 25 minutes because he had to heat to remove, cut one of his rubber hangers off and experiment as to which was easiest way to route new exhaust around axle. Keep in mind you are on your back and the new unit weighs a ton.

My 40 minutes was best case scenario as everything went just right because he had already shared my few install tips mentioned above and my '18 only had 5500 miles on it so flange bolts/hangers removed easily.
If I were under the clock I may be able to shave 5 minutes off.
Not believing anyone alone on the ground can do it in 20 minutes, it's just too many steps when including both removal and new install.

Took me about two hours to install it myself with no jack or extra pair of hands. 40 minutes is a hell of a time.

Yeah, I have. Removed factory exhaust, installed new one, changed mind after a few months. Removed aftermarket exhaust and reinstalled the factory one.

Different people are good at different things. Routing the exhaust over the axle took some thought but that is the only step that requires any sort of critical thinking. Believe me or don’t believe me, my swap back and forth is already done. Stay well dude.

Twice actually. I think both times it took me an hour on the driveway, remove and install. This was taking my time, not slow not fast. Just putsin along. The hardest part for me, doing it by myself was maneuvering over the rear axle.
