That's good points. Honestly, the only thing I'm worried about is age. For the tires and bearing, I can negotiate with the owner that potentially can cut the price. I'm just wondering how many years of life left of the trailer in my hand.

Lol. 16 years is not old for a trailer. 46 is old for a trailer. Yeah once you get it fitted out it will be pretty heavy. Right now completely empty it is sitting at 2K. Geez axles, springs, wheels, tires and AC unit will weigh 1K!

look where the axle mounts are, make sure if it has an aluminum frame, and steel axles (most do) look for the contact areas to see if dissimilar metal contact is present and see how bad it is. aluminum framed trailers are known for this failure, ESPECIALLY IF USED DURING WINTER, WITH SALT, BRINE, SANDING OF ROADS. buyer beware. You can probably get that for 3500 but it's worth it. With AC, dual axles and a pretty clean look I'd buy it tomorrow if that's what I needed.

    Aluminum trailers are nice.
With the flat top, check where the AC is mounted to see if it is sagging down. It appears the floor is uncoated underneath, check for rot. As others stated, check for corrosion, cracks, bends, and check tires for any signs of sun damage/dry rot.

If you end up getting a new trailer, I suggest getting laminated walls (screwless) and make sure it is rated for weight on the roof.
Interstate trailer was kind enough to delete my posts and block me from their facebook when I posted QC issues with a brand new trailer. So, I would recommend not going with them unless you already plan to disassemble it to the frame.

To see it, I had to pull the inside walls off. Kinda hard to talk a dealer into letting you disassemble a trailer before you buy it.

Hi guys, I just got these pictures from the owner from underneath. It looks like the axles are torsion? If so, any cons?

The only cons for me are the price to replace the axles when they are done, when they fail, they can drop the fender onto the tire (more of an issue on single axle trailers), and they transfer hits to the frame more.
I like them because they provide a smoother ride.
To check an axle, remove the tire and put the jack under the spindle. It should start to lift the trailer as you raise the jack (dont need to keep lifting). If the spindle raises, but the trailer doesnt, you need a new axle.

Walk around and look at welds, make sure you don't see any cracking. I've owned aluminum trailers and worked on aluminum trailers and almost all of them end up developing cracks in the welds. It's not a huge deal, especially if you can grind and weld the aluminum yourself, but it is something to check out.
