Thanks for the confirmation. I "inherited" my moms '16 while I'm figuring out what to do with my truck, and just confirmed that she forgot about needing to have this done. Yay dealership trip.

Harmless? If you're talking about the dealerships, they're harmless until they let service writers ignore the customer. Or try and say a thermostat failing at 40k miles isn't covered under the 60k mile full coverage warranty.

Also when they think you don't know what you're talking about and order the exhaust for an access cab tundra when you clearly and multiple times stated you had a double cab. Then they refuse to do an inspection due to the exhaust not being correct, missing the failing ball joint, resulting in $500 worth of damage and a $300 tow two days later.

My list of reasons to dislike dealerships is getting long, and it's usually down to human error on their employees part.

I have been working on my own vehicles for over 40 years ..
The biggest WTF moment was when i took in my brand new truck for its first inspection.. I had already added a set of weathertech floor mats before hand.

I kid you not, the service advisor told me they had to remove my weather tech mats before they would service my truck because they where unsafe..

Never have I ever heard such a stupid remark.. at that point i just gave up and said OK. Wasn't even worth the effort to argue..

So its now one year later and it goes in for next service.. I ask the service guy if they are going to take out my mats again since they are unsafe.

Why would we do that, we sell the weathertech mats now..

Oh the recall is harmless, yeah I completely agree. I'm just saying I usually don't have good luck/experiences at dealerships.

Had a '12 civic and took it in for the airbag recall. Got the car back, big ol grease smear on the drivers seat side bolster. Cloth interior. I walked straight back inside and pointed it out, "oh that must've already been there." Heck no it wasn't! Ended up costing that dealership a new seat.

On four separate occasions a dealership (different brands and different dealerships, not all the same one) has refunded the cost of parts/labor due to their negligence or wrong parts, or ignorance. Thank god for customer service folks calling after the work is done and asking how our experience was...

So this is part of the sad reality for the class of 2020. Tonight is my daughter's "virtual prom". She's all dolled up and my wife as set up the dining room just for her. She is Skype'd in with several of her high school friends and they are "attending" prom together.

I hear her laughing and having a great time. But inside I know she hurts. And my heart hurts for her. ♡

Not all of us are lucky enough to have guys like you work on our vehicles.

I also avoid dealerships for service work. I had to have work done that required the oil pan to be removed. A week later my engine completely seized after hitting a large water covered pot hole on the freeway. A tool was left in the oil pan and the impact was enough for it to get into the crank and stopped the motor. Fwd car going 60. Car was a total loss with all the drivetrain damage. Dealer literally gave me the same year and model car off their used lot with a bumper to bumper warranty that covered anything. Sure they made it right, but that very well could have killed me.

Good for her, pushing through this tough time. My S/O graduated with her masters in social work last week with a 3.97 gpa. No commencement, no walk across a stage, no family to celebrate it. (Her family is in OK) So my folks and I did an in home graduation celebration.
