What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I bought all three of these for $10. Couldn’t find the fourth one

 

5.29s are great but damn does the break in period suck. Currently sitting on the side of the road waiting for them to cool off before I can drive again

 

lol I just took it after we put the wheels on and I was messing with the headlights. It’s actually in a bay at the Toyota body shop that my dad works at and it was after hours so there wasn’t as much light as normal. But thanks for the tune up! I’ll go get some real pictures once the weather clears up and I can get to a more scenic location lol

 

OK, I have been searching for where the turn signal relay is on the 03 DCSB so I can add the new relay that qwells the hyperflash.

Anyone got a link or diagram or photo?

 

It's under the dash, behind (or rather - to the front of the truck) and above the in-cab fuse box. If you turn on the blinker, and reach your hand up in there - above all the bunches of wires that go into the (blue for me) fuse box, you can feel it ticking. You don't even need to remove the lower plastic under the steering wheel, just reach up behind it and you'll find it.

Pull it out and note the orientation as you do, since you're essentially blind as you install the new one.

 

Ok... So I finally got my ass to work.

I've moved on from Coffee to Mt Dew.




Timing is going to be crucial on this...

I only have about 8 Dews on top of the cooler before I get to the 24 pack of Coors Light.

 

Mounted up my new third gen wheels.

 

You can get an open ended wrench on the other side still.

 

It swings out to the right. The right side has bolts holding it in and then the left side i used trailer hitch pins for quick way of opening it.

 

That was a duh moment for me, thanks Dan!

 

Oh gotcha, yea it isn't secured down there. It uses the bolt in the middle and then at the top.

 

they look awesome. I just put a bronze set on my access cab. I’m loving the wheel but I’m still on the fence on my tire selection.

Anyone know which piece goes first?

 

Where did you source the "TACOMA" lettering on your tailgate? I assume that is nothing OEM.?

 

I'd go with the water pump.

 

I went ahead and started with the cam and crank seals.

 

They’re on eBay and Amazon as well as other sites. Those are the inserts used in the embossed “TOYOTA” on 3rd gen tailgates. Just need to lay them out straight.

status update?

 

Coupla quick and dirty hi lift mounts. Maybe 20mins invested, solves an issue.
