2017 Entune w/ jbl- new amp connected to factory amp

The coaxial will sound awesome in the back door off the factory amp. That I know. But trust me, component in the front.

 

I believe you there. I have coaxials in there now off the factory amp and they sound great. Just wanting more volume. I have the doors already sound deadened and insulated. Have fast rings install as well. Did you set the crossovers when you installed the coaxials? They were a gift from my gf so I’m trying to get the most out of it.

 

The crossovers come with the component set. There’s no adjustment settings on them. They have a single input and then an output for tweeter and an output for woofer.

 

I was referring to the crossovers on the amp for when you had the coaxials in there. I usually have them set to 80- 100hz and have the sub kick in for anything below that. Sometimes improper crossover settings can lead to coaxials sounding like straight ass

 

Sorry im jumping in here but I am doing something similar to you guys. I am trying to decide between the pac amp pro or the lc7i. The pac amp pro says you have to keep the factory jbl amp hooked up. problem is I don't have room if I do a dual 10" box. Do you have to keep the factory amp if you use the lc7i and pigtail?

 

If you want get rid of it entirely, a new head unit is the only choice.

The amp controls the volume and fade unfortunately.

Not 100% sure on the pac amp pro. Maybe others can chime in.

 

Factory radio requires factory amp to stay hooked up, no matter what. AmpPro and lc7i will both need it to stay. Some members have extended all the wiring and put it in the cubby under the seat.

 

Thanks for the response. So if I am stuck keeping the factory amp with nowhere to put it I guess I am down to maybe just doing 1 10" or 12" behind the drivers side. Do you guys think that will be enough bass?

 

Depends on how much bass you want lol. I’m running a single 12 and I’m happy with it for the space it takes up. Just don’t expect a single 12 in a very shallow small box to hit like a 12 or even a 10 in a big ported box. Set proper expectations and you’ll be happy.
I’ve debated doing dual 10” kicker L7T’s in a GroundShaker box but 1) it would require me to move my amp under the drivers seat, and 2) I just don’t want to spend the money on upgrading an already awesome sound system right now.

but extending all the factory amp wiring would be very easy with some basic soldering skills. Then you could move it wherever you want it

 

I listen to more rock so im not expecting huge bass but definitely want to hear my sub. If I extended all the wires to move my factory amp wouldn't it be a ton of wires? I can solder but don't want to have to worry about extending 100 wires.

 

You’re good with only extending 2 wires if you have powered rear window. I haven’t done mine yet but that’s all that I see. If you cut the loom, you’ll be able to locate it to the under storage or even as far as the middle to mount it with little work.

I’m waiting on Marv to fab my box and amp rack. I kinda have it ghetto rigged with a slim box sitting behind driver seat. Luckily it’s only me 99% of the time.

 

I do not have a power back window. So you think there is enough play in the wires to move the factory amp into the under seat storage without extending any wires?

 

Don’t quote me on it, but my 2019 has only that. You might luck out.

 

I can’t recall who, but there’s only one person that i know on here that did it that way. Instead cutting a hole in the rear, he cut it in the front instead where the seat bottom hinges forward. I’m sure you’ll have to remove the storage and it’ll be pretty obvious by then.

 

Ok sounds good. One more question then I will leave you guys alone, haha. I bought a high end pair of Hertz 6x9's I was going to use in my front doors. After reading a bunch of posts everyone says you will be sorry if you don't do components up front. Thoughts?

 

If I had another round at it I would go for the components. Factory JBL has built in crossover so you won’t get anything past 500hz to the doors unless you sum the front dash and door outputs.

I have infinity reference coaxials, 3.5 up top and 6x9 in the doors and they sound decent(not amazingly)clear to me. I’m just using the factory crossovers for the doors but using the amp to cut out anything below 100hz. So pretty much ghetto band pass 100-500hz on the doors and the sub will take care of everything else below. The dash gets everything above 500hz.

I’ve been given compliments on the sound clarity, but for me I want something that’s clearer and louder. So I plan to upgrade to Focal Flax or do an active 3way from Morel. Both around 4-500 dollars.

Infinity’s were a gift from my lady and I didn’t want to upgrade immediately and make her feel bad.

 

Ok I ordered the pac amp pro so my signals should be good. Think I'm putting the Kappa 3-way set up front now instead of the 6x9. Now I just have to figure out what sub will give the most bump and fit in that small single box behind the seat

 

I had a 10" Polk svc 4ohm sub and it was decent. Switched it to a 10" RF punch dvc for a 2 ohm load. Love it. At 400 watts is sounds great!
I have the lc8 and a phoenix gold 5 channel amp. Most likely I'm going to replace that equipment with audio control's lc6-1200.

 

Ok so I am not going to use the 6x9's. I ordered a 3-way Morel set for the front. Alpine Type-R 6.5 for the rear doors which I am still up in the air about. I have an Alpine 5 channel RMS is 100x4 and 500x1. Im still so unsure of what sub to go with. I am definitely only going with a single sub. Been looking at Kicker Solo Baric L7 Shallow 10, Alpine Type-R Shallow 10, Image dynamics shallow 10 or the full size image dynamics. It will fit but not by much. Does anybody have any experience or opinions on all of this? Interested to hear peoples thoughts
