Waiting on my 16x8 3.5 bs to arrive tomorrow. 2nd gen DCLB with 2.5 inches of lift and SPC upper control arms. Ive read that with the 3.5 backspacing to fit 285/70/r16 ill have to do a CMC and some trimming. I don't mind doing that but am concerned it may need too much trimming? Should i just run a 265/75/r16?

Stock height, 16x8 3.5BS with 265/75/16. Trimmed some of the flare off, but still rubbing somewhere in the front in reverse, so more cutting to do.

Hey guys, for the people that run 285/70r17 on 17x8.5 with -10 Offset... after a CMC and minor trimming... can you fully stuff your tires with no rubbing? Wondering everyone's experience with wheeling and rubbing with this setup. I'm on a 2.5" lift as well with JBA UCAs and will set to 3 degrees caster. I just don't want to have to do TOO much to make them fit off road/stuffing :)

I had read that even some wheels on 285s after a CMC can still rub... thats why I'm asking.

What are people doing far as covering where the center caps would be? More specifically on the back wheels. i finally got my F5s put on this weekend and i love how they look. The only thing i see being a possible problem in the future is the back wheel hubs. The exposed part of my back hubs have a tiny bit of rust on them now (surprised me as the truck is only a year old) and dealing with snow/ice/sand on the roads in New England i can only see this becoming a bigger problem over time so wondering if anyone else had this issue and had a solution for it. My first thought is to just hit it with some black rust proofing paint but not sure how long term of a solution that is.

I figured that was probably going to be my only/best option. Someone posted a picture of some caps in the Stealth Customer Series F5 Photo thread post #2211 that looked awesome but seems like they did not belong to the person who posted so there is no info on them unfortunately

Ok, I've done lots of reading and just need to clarify a few things that arent clear to me yet. I am going with the 3" toytec lift. Likely just a 1.5" block in the rear(hear aal rides rough), and scs f5's. Want to run a 285/75/16, however I am not sure about doing the cmc or any welding as I am not experienced with that stuff and am pretty much tapped out on budget with the wheels tires & lift. It is required 100% to do a cmc with the -25 offset, and not even a possibility with the 0? I love the look of the -25, but not sure that I can justify modding my daily that much lol.

Nothing is a certainty, some setups rub even after cutting, some don't with no cutting. Tires and how you use the truck make a huge difference. A skinnier tire is less likely to rub or run a 265/75.

I’m really considering pulling the trigger on some f5. Can anyone confirm if the 17x8.5 -10 offset will clear on stock suspension?

But a skinnier tire wont look as good. Lol. Is it possible to run a -25 offset without rubbing?

I have the 16x8 -25 with 285/75R16 MT/Rs. The front tires are worn down from the 33.1 diameter they started at. The alignment is currently within factory specs as none of the convenient Firestones will add caster as I would like. I have a lift in the front that is somewhere between 0-3" never actually measured. The mudflaps are removed, the pinch weld is pounded flat and the fender liner has been trimmed.

I have rubbing on the very aggressive cab mount chop, the new fender that was recently installed is being rolled back and there are marks on the frame behind the LCA from full lock.

I would say I have done more than most to get the truck out of the way of the tire, but I also subject the truck to weird situations off road.

You will likely be fine if you mostly live on the pavement and keep it mellow while offroad. If you mob, you will rub.

I plan on moving to Colorado later this year, but as the truck is my daily driver, I won't be doing anything extreme in it. Just some fun trailing & mild mannered stuff. I would love the look of the -25, but dont want to have to go crazy far into it as far as modifications just to drive it.

Please help! I have gone through 50 pages.
Looking for pictures and knowledge on this set up.
F5 in 17" with 285/70/17 on Stock suspension.
(I know trimming will be required and BMC)

I’ve tried looking for this answer but I have not found it, it appears everyone wants to run 285’s. I run Cooper ST MAXX’s 265/75/16 and will be installing 5100’s all around, 887 coils, and a HS AAL. According to my research from posts I should get about 2” up front and 1.5” in the rear. I have a gen 3 DCSB.

Will I be able to buy 16x8’s with the 3.5 offset without having to CMC? I don’t mind using a heat gun to remove the rub but a CMC is out of the question. I’m leasing and am not sure if I will trade in or keep my SR5. Would aftermarket UCA’s help to prevent chopping? I do plan to ride off road on easy to moderate (at worst) trails as my main purpose off roading is for exploration.

Initially dropped 1/4” all around after I picked up skids and sliders on the same set up. More than that, it dropped another 1/2” fully loaded for camping and the ride became spongy.

I think your set up would be fine for street driving, but trails, stuffing, and the like will make you rub. If you’re going out occasionally, the rub might be ok to deal with. I doubt the dealer would notice a cmc if you return to stock before trading in (recommended, recoup some costs). Bending the liner is more noticeable and I didn’t have an issue until I went to 285s.

I say do it and don’t look back. Welcome to the forum
