Who makes the ssr? Buy a used Honda and it'll never let you down. I'm picking up a 50 in a week or two off my buddy

Never heard of an SSR, I would personally stick with a name brand if possible, parts will be much easier to find if you should have a mechanical issue.

its pretty much a chinese brand that based a bike off the crf50. i have read reviews online saying they are pretty good for the price, just some things should be done right when getting the bike, such as oil, lock tighting bolts etc.

    i was thinking of getting a crf50 or klx110 ;)

CRF50s are great if you're under 5'-4" tall, even built up with full aftermarket suspension, they're too small for anyone over 5'-10". I've had several.

SSR is your typical Chinese made bike. You get what you pay for. You'll have lots of maintenance issues with them and they suck when you go to sell them because they don't hold together and no one wants them. The motors are usually ratty after about 2 years, if they make it that long.

If I did it all over again, I'd buy a 110 to start with and build according to my interest. Buy one of the Japanese makers though. KLX would be what I'd go with, or a CRF150R.

Here's a few of my bikes:

ssr's have chinese copy of the crf50 engine...i mean an exact copy. you can run any honda parts on them if they break. im pretty sure ssr can use honda sprockets and wheels and brakes. not to mention all the aftermarket support that goes on the hondas work on the chinese copies

yah, but the metal they use is usually nowhere near the quality of a honda. you can probably bore the cylinder with a scotch bright pad :D

i would disagree with ^^^^^ ssr is B.A. There are alot of small companies that are putting out awesome minis, ssr, sdg, bbr, killer motorsport, pitster, they all make super high quality minis. just depends on how much coin you want to drop. If your friend is mechanically inclined, pick up one of those chinese junkers and tinker with it, it is possible to build one up and make it a fun little jumper.

oh man i need a pit bike so bad! all my friends ride around the neighborhood and stuff lol but ive rode 50s and they are too small. im 6'1 tho so that should be obvious lol 110 is the way to go

my friends got 2 of them one honda and one kawi and they are bored to like 140 and they are beasts! so much so that i dont even like riding them lol it seems like you twist the throttle about a quarter inch and its wide open

i could probally make due with a 90 but its all about the price

id love to hear more info on the copies and what to do to them to make them decent because thats the only think in my price range lol

Pitbikes are a blast. I used to have a CRF50 that I modded the shit out of and it was soo fun! It was way faster than a stock KLX110 but I was constantly breaking parts on it so I sold it and bought a klx110 which I like a lot more. Much more room on this bike and with a few mods it goes pretty good.
I have a pitbike track in my front yard:

Save your money and go with a used klx or drz 110. You can find them for like 700 on a good day. They'll smoke a 125 china and will run forever. My friend got a china for cheap, had to do a number of repairs, shops hate working on them, and ended up spending more money in the long run. The chinas look like they got nice suspension and big motors but rarely have bottom end or quality functions. I got a klx 110, beat the hell out of it, and have only had to change the oil and clean the carb, thats it. And you can actually find parts for them. xr50s are fun but for the price spend a 150 more and get a 110.

A quality big bore for a 50 will be 300-400.I think takegawa makes one. In my opinion its not worth it. sell the 50 for like 500 bucks, keep the pro taper bars, and buy a klx 110 for around 700. Put the bars on and you got more room than a 50 and faster than a bored one. Sorry if i offended anyone but im a china hater. Just my opinion
