Is my 2wd TRD sport destined to just be a mall crawler?

I wish I didn't discover this forum or I wouldn't have bought the TRD (clarified: 2wd) sport trim. Now I feel like my trim is only meant to be a mall crawler. Why even bother with a 2wd?

 

It's your truck, make it into whatever you want.

If you needed 4x4 then you’d have bought one, IMO. TW aesthetic favors lifted off-road trucks but half of them don’t see 4x4 either. Don’t be fooled.

Make your truck however you want but don’t think having 4x4 makes your life different.

 

This is silly. A pickup truck is one of the most useful vehicles made. 2wd or 4wd
Theres much more to a tacoma than just offroading

 

I have a 2WD and off-road more than a lot of 4WD truck owners I know. In fact, I have coworkers who have them and have never left the pavement. People buy them just because they feel they have to get a 4x4 if they’re getting a truck and then never use them.

You can off-road plenty with a 2WD, don’t let anyone else make you think differently.

 

I have 4x4 and I've never really needed it. I just live in the midwest where there is snow and I wanted a 4x4. Nice to have when there are storms and it has been useful in those instances but 2wd would have been fine and honestly that happens maybe twice a year.

I have a 2wd. But my intention was to haul the dogs in the bed and it does it perfectly. All depends on how you use your vehicle and whether you actually need 4wd or 2wd.

I've done a couple camping trips in it also. I knew where I was gonna take my truck I would likely never need 4wd.

 

Mine works just fine off road.

 

Drove my 84 2wd for 10 years with zero problems. I still miss that one

 

Believe it or not, a lot of people make the same mistake. Buy a 2wd truck thinking there is no need for 4WD. “Will never use”... Only to find out that you now do wish you had it. 2wd truck can still be fun and adventurous. Obviously will not have the same capability as a 4x4.

2WD with great tires, rear locker and some good recovery tools can get to a ton of places.
