Truck can't get aligned, pulls right

Yea. I just said screw it, I'm on the phone with toyota now to try and get something done because I bought it in October in NC and it seems they missed something or didn't tell me something. They are already escalating it.

It looks like the driver's side leaf spring, front hanger perch is incorrectly mounted to the frame. I am not sure if he has come to a resolution for it. @eimkeith

 

Wow...I'm surprised I didn't catch this thread earlier, thanks! Sounds exactly like my issue, I'm going to have to measure hangars again and see if that's what I have going on too. I thought I had checked them before but I've measured so many things on my truck this week it's making my head spin, I'll revisit the hangars based on his thread info. Thanks again

So I'm probably just taking this thread over, but I MAY have found my issue. My front hangers are off either side by about 1/16th of an inch but my measurements are with a tape measure so. Again sorry for the crappy pic but here is the front driver. You can see where it has actually moved. Hopefully I can fight Toyota of Gastonia about it but I'm not expecting much. It's a stearlership.

 

Why? If your breaking out the welder you might as well just weld up a trailing arm set-up. I know you've got the skills. lol

A lot of trucks axles are not perfectly centered you just won’t notice it till you lift em or run wider tires

 

As I've found most people's are offset by a little. Some more extreme than others. I'm much of a perfectionist with my truck I guess. Plus it's just disgusting to me how far off it is.

 

I’d say 80% just based off alignment numbers I see. But it’s rare to have one bad enough to cause a pull.

 

The guy I talked to at the local collision shop told me that F250s 'crab walk' off the factory floor lol. I guess axle relocation plates are a common fix for them

 

My 2000 taco was off like that. Never noticed any pull though. Still bugged the shit out of me cause I’d notice it all the time.

 

Yup. I see them doggin down the road all the time because the ford dealers right up the road.

You're thinking way too hard about this. 1/16 to square on an 07 is pretty damn close. If you're this much of a perfectionist, then leaf springs aren't for you. There's a bunch of side to side slop in shackles and bushings all of the time.

 

My biggest gripe with the tundra and the taco was the front wheels stuck out a bit further than the rear wheels.

 

Your hub to hub wheelbase measurements are 2" off?

 

When I first measured them yes. Since then I loosened the u-bolts and took a ratchet strap to both sides of the axle to pull it forward on the pass side and backward on the driver side, remeasured and it's closer to an inch now. And this time I measured from the rear hub to the front of the frame rather than to the front hub, since the front hub can vary based on caster.

It's not as bad as it was but the left rear tire does still sit an inch closer to the front of the rear fender than the right one does on the pass side.

I'm going to take it in for a new front end alignment and see what my thrust numbers are in the back now

 

You want to check your frame for being “diamond”.

The quick way to do this is to measure diagonally from known identical points on the frame (not the body, not the axle); right front to left rear, and left front to right rear.

Compare lengths.

Up under the cab is likely the easiest area to take these diagonal measurements.



You also want to measure the rear axle housing for bends, and here’s the easy way to do that:

Block the front wheels.

Jack the rear axle up, in neutral with parking brake released.

Use spray paint (anything but black) to paint a ring around the tread surface of each rear tire, then scribe a line in the paint by spinning the tire.

With a helper, measure across between left tire and right tire scribe lines in 4 places, as high and low as possible working around the frame and truck bed, at about 1:30, 4:30, 7:30, and 10:30 positions. If your housing is straight, (and you scribed a line accurately) all 4 measurements will be identical.

I hope this makes sense and helps.

 

Ok I went under just now and made an X measurement under my frame, right/front to left/back and vise versa using the identical points on both sides. 82.5" exactly on both sides.

Used a drain hole right in front of the front hangars on both sides to the rectangular factory holes up front by the front cross member


That is an interesting way to check the rear housing, makes sense to me and I will give it a try soon. Got mother's day duties I have to tend to lol. Thank you
