Hello, I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can get a camper shell for my 2008 Tacoma (and installed too). I live in CA., but have no idea where to even look for one. Thanks for any help.

There's dealerships for them, but they get really expensive if buying new. I spent a good 2 months on Craigslist and found one in decent condition for $200, about a 3hr drive away from me. Its not the same color and it has some scratches but I saved like $800

I found mine on Facebook for a good price. Not color matched or anything but suits my needs

I bought a new one so I just looked up the dealership/location on ARE's website and called them direct.
Fyi, install is putting it in place and attaching with four clamp things.
Don't think I was charged for install.

Look at all the manufacturers web sites, figure out what you want. They all have dealer locations.

I live in LA and got mime from ‘LA Camper Shells’

$2400 for the biggest shell with the highest roof, got windoors on all windows and screen mesh and roof rack rails, took 3 weeks for it to get to dealer, with covid idk might take longer, installation was included

You don't have to spend big bucks unless you just want to. Being patient will turn up something eventually. Any 2nd gen with the same length bed will fit. You may have to settle for a different color and if having it painted to match is important you need to take that into consideration.

If you pay $500 for a shell and another $500 to get it painted you're getting close to new costs. But some mis matched colors look good together. I have a BIL with a silver truck with a black cap he picked up used. Another with a two tone burgundy and gold truck with a gold colored cap.

I paid $900 for my Leer in 2007. It is the basic model and at the end of the day does exactly the same thing one with all the fancy options does that needs to be done. I paid closer to $1500 in 2016 for one on a full size truck.

Craigs list is an option, but checking with body shops and car dealers is a good idea too. People often trade in used trucks with caps. They remove the cap to detail the truck and often don't put them back on. Same with vehicles repaired after an accident. They take them off to do the repair and the owner decides not to put it back on. I've seen 2-3 sitting on the ground behind body shops and car lots.

And on a truck that old I'd not be opposed to an aluminum cap. They are still made and not any more expensive than soft tops. They can be put on and taken off with no help.
