OP stated his vehicle is a 2020 Tacoma. His brother has a 2019 Frontier. So it is not the new engine and transmission from Nissan.

I have a 2016 Frontier Pro 4x. I do not regret purchasing it. Yes, it has a larger turning radius than a Tacoma. It suits my needs and has given me no real issues since I have owned it. I did have the radio replaced because of the volume control not working properly. New radio has worked great.

I have said before it reminds me of my 2006 Tacoma Sport in many ways.

2021 is supposed to be completely redesigned, hopefully its not fugly. Their engines have always been good imho but nissan interiors usually suck.

That really only relates of he paid the same, which he might have.

When people get 15K off sticker of a GM then compare to a vehicle that someone paid MSRP on is where it gets cross threaded.

Pro4x is a nice truck but about 3/4ths the truck the Tacoma TRD OR is. Even if it feels peppier...

The OP is right. You either get a Tacoma 3rd generation or you get a Frontier. What's really the point of a second generation?

Worked with a supplier at the plant where Frontiers are made for 8 years. There’s no way in hell I’d buy anything built at that plant.

It was only a few years with faulty radiators.

If I have to have auto. I'd prefer the trans. have it's own cooler.

The Frontier (was) a good truck. Next year prob. not.

4.0 vs. 3.5. Toyota pooped the bed on our third gen. I wish I had my 2nd gen all the time.

Ya I was being (somewhat) sarcastic. I sat in the Frontier at the L.A. auto show last year, my first thought was "2005 called, and they want their truck back. "

I also have a 2018 Altima, looked great for the first year but the cheap interior has aged dramatically, it squeaks, rattles, random parts pop off, and overall reminds me of an 80's GM F body. I can't imagine the truck being much better. Thanks but no thanks.

Nissan had some major internal problems at corporate last year. My money says that on a consumer level we will see a few dealerships close and quality complaints will go up. A few of their cars will probably cease production altogether, though I think the Titan, Frontier, and Rogue are all safe from the chopping block.

My 2008 Ram was both a very dumb move and a very smart one. I bought it brand new for 15k. However, the week after I bought it, Chrysler ceased business with half of their dealerships and went belly up. Getting warranty work done at the few dealers remaining was tougher than pulling teeth. Had to utter the phrase "do I need to hire an attorney to get this looked at" on one occasion.

I always liked the frontier. My 2000 was a solid little truck. But right now if I drop coin on a vehicle I want assurance that the warranty actually means something for the next three years.

Those early 2000s Frontiers and Xterras were great. I had an 01 Xterra manual. That V6 was inefficient but sounded great and was a torque monster... fit and finish were terrible, but it was super fun to own and very reliable.

I will readily admit my love for the Frontier. If the Tacoma didn't exist, I would choose the Frontier in an instant.

Good truck but the 2nd gen has been having problems with cylinder scaring resulting in whole new engines as warranty replacements. Not sure Nissan even knows what's causing this but hope they figure it out. The 1st gen 5.6 was bulletproof.
