This is falling on deaf ears, no one admits their perfect 3rd gen's engine has no torque, which is what gets you off the line.

 

Always felt the gearing was better in Nissans. I've owned a 16 taco and currently have a 05 Xterra.

The 05 Xterra feels like it has more jam than any of the Toyota V6's and its 15 years old.

Interior quality the Nissans simply fail though. Easily scratched.

@Taylor21554 , compare the frame height off the ground next time the trucks are side by side. You'll be surprised.

I've worked on Nissans and Toyotas since 2005, Toyota is 1000% the better truck. Nissans are just better for power delivery.

 

Can’t argue specs. Turn radius is worse on a frontier. How much you tolerate that is definitely your opinion.

 

Basically. I don't care for GM, so the Canyon/Colorado are out. The new Ford trucks don't excite me, though I love the 9th-gen f-series and have a 9th-gen F350 as a project truck. The Ridgeline is okay for what it is, but what it is and what I am looking for are not the same. This leaves the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma won out, but the Frontier is certainly worthy of consideration.

 

Had a 06 fronty which was then the Nismo now a pro4x 6s speed 4wd was a great little truck well built and robust, however the turning radius and ergonomics of the seats were tuerible. Never gave me any issues cept for a dead battery had it for 150k.
Tacoma has been just as reliable but a helluva lot more comfy.

 

Nothing wrong with that. I still think the Tacoma is a better truck all around, but the Frontiers are an excellent choice.

I have a feeling all of that is going to change with the next gen Frontiers though. I hate the Navarra, and turbo engines, and it seems they are both destined for the Frontier.

 

I had long term rental Frontiers (3-years) for my company vehicle. Dead reliable but I could never get comfortable and always had a sore back. Also, it made u-turns turned like cruise ship.

 

The current Frontier is ancient, but it stands out as a true simple workhorse truck. I'm kind of sad to see the current frontier go.

 

It is totally ancient which is why I like it. It's like the flip phone of the truck world.

 

I drove a 00 Frontier for 16 years before i got my tacoma last year. I was never disappointed in the frontier but after 16 years i just wanted something newer. I'm curious to see their new lineup next eyar.

 

Guy kinda sucks at shifting, but I've always liked how the VQ sounds at high RPM

 

Nissans are Japanese Chryslers.

 

… and the price is not bad, save around 10g upfront over the Tacoma.

Here is a simple look. The Tacoma OR and the Frontier Pro are pretty equal in features. I did a quick truecar for a Tacoma OR 4x4. It should the average paid was $34,226. A Nissan Frontier Pro 4x average price paid was $30,428. A Tacoma owner would pay $3798 more. After 5 years the Tacoma looses 32% and the Nissan looses 39.5%.
The Tacoma is worth $23,274 while the Frontier is worth $18,409. That is a difference of $4865. But remember the Toyota cost $3798 more. So as far as money, it is only $1067 diff in five years. imo, not a great difference.

 

No argument there. I know the Tacoma has a better turn radius. You are correct. It is what one can live with.
