I may go Tundra, but I'm waiting to see what the new design rumored to be coming in 2021 looks like. In your shoes I'd seriously look at one. Make sure you get the 38 gallon fuel tank.

I upgraded to a bigger truck in 2016 when the Tacoma just got too small for what we needed. I wanted to buy a used Tundra and keep the Tacoma. But I wasn't able to find a used Tundra with the bigger tank. I was able to find lots of Ford's and went with a used 2014 F150 at the time. I'd never have another big truck without at least a 35 gallon fuel tank.

I'll probably keep the Ford another year or 2 and trade for something else. And I want to see the redesign on the Tundra.

    14mpg and huge.

Also there’s probably no way the few parts you need cost the same or more than the difference you’d pay if you added it up pure numbers, no feelings.

I'm basically waiting for the tundra mpg to get better, and once they refine a turbo'd engine I'm getting one asap, but right now? 5.7L V8? I'm happy getting 17 and I drive like a jackass

I don't know if this applies to the OP, but check the length of the Tundra. It would not fit in my garage.

I had a 2014 Platinum Tundra and they are great trucks. The problem for me was, although it was great on road trips, it was "almost" a chore to drive everyday. Just got old as a DD but would be awesome if could afford one for a 2nd vehicle.

Why would I try to talk you out of it? I love mine.

Gas mileage difference from my Taco is really pretty minimal.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
    That's a great idea

They probably don't aside from the frame...

I don't drive like a jack ass and I'm happy when it breaks 16 mpg on a fill up.

Yeah they are like a unicorn. I commented about the whining, but truly it's not as bad as I made it seem. And the younger generation is mostly made of whiners!

That's what I'm seeing. I don't get great mileage on the Taco, and it seems to be getting worse with age. Atleast with poor mileage, I'd have more space and torque.

I just went to a tundra a few months ago. It has room for days! Mileage is roughly 15 average. I went with a tundra due to me having three kids in car seats so I needed the room. Am I happy? Not really. I will be swapping back to a Tacoma when the kids are older. On a side note it has awesome power!B68F4856-A821-4CB4-9036-76346B222F60.jpg

Average loss of about 4 mpg according to Fuelly.

That’s not a lot comparing cars that get 30 something mpg.

But 18 to 14 is about a 22% decrease in fuel efficiency.

That’s the overall average over thousands of trucks. Not the average for active TW members I would presume. Ha

I got some mail today from Toyota about a frame inspection for my 2015. Maybe I'll tell them I need a Tundra for a loaner and test drive it for an afternoon

I have had both , I like the Crewmax , I have had a few , great trucks , maintenance is not much more . Power is great you will pass everything but a gas station , they are a bit thirsty but gas is cheap now .
I would still have a Tundra if they built a heavier chassis , I traded my 2016 Tundra Crewmax platinum on a GMC 3500 Diesel SRW night and day towning ... The Duramax has Denso fuel injections components ... its kind of like have a Toyota ... LOL
I wish Toyota would bring a heavy Tundra to the market , unfortunately I think there up coming Diesel is going to be just like the Nissan Titan with Cummins , glorified 1/2 ton .
I like the new Tundra and see no reason to not take a look if you need a bit more of truck , its going to be a buyers market with all this Covid 19 should be great deals to be had .

I would say first thing is how is the frame.
Is it gonna be eligible for a frame?
Will it be toast being in the noreast in the next few yrs after it’s time.
Seems most everything I see around us gets a frame or ends up with a parts rig.

I love my Tacoma. But if l was in the market for a full size truck again. I'd buy a Tundra.
Just like the Tacoma the mileage isn't as good as the competition. But the reliability gives me a huge piece of mind.
