    Hey guys. I know its a long shot but why not try. I live in Palm Springs and have an 01 Tacoma, 3.4l and about to tackle the timing belt. I am short of 4 specific tools to complete this job and was wondering if someone nearby had these tools and might want to lend me a hand. I'm quite confident but know that having someone there who has done it before could come in handy. It would be also cool to meet someone new from Tacomaworld. The specific tools I need are 1.) Harmonic balance holder 2.)Cam pulley holder 3.)5 ton bearing separater 4.)crankshaft seal kit. Thanks, guys. Stay safe in these crazy times.

    How was the timing belt job? Any special bullshit we have to be aware of? I'm assuming theres some sort of cam-locker as part of the timing belt kit? V6 timing jobs generally suck the deeeee.

    Well, to be honest. It was kind of a turd. But I'm famous for doing everything twice. There are def some things to be aware of. You need special tools. If you look up this video from Timmy. it will tell you everything you need to know. https://youtu.be/vHC46ypHxWc I watched this video like ten times before I did the job. It will tell you all the special tools required as well. Make sure to watch the second video on this as well as it can save you minutes or hours depending on how stubborn you are. lol. Now there are a couple of things that weren't noted in the video that could be useful. When taking the cam pulleys off. You need a special wrench for that plus a breaker bar. They're locked on there though and if you're doing this by yourself as I did. It can prove to be impossible if you're not a bodybuilder. So I used 1 1/2" PVC to slide over the cam wrench handle and wedge between the frame so I could use both hands on the breaker bar. Sort of like the method you'll see in the video to break the crankshaft bolt free. Another thing is that if you don't already have the tools to seat the camshaft seals and crankshaft seal. You can easily and safely do so by tapping them in with 1 1/2" PVC say about 8" long. Just make sure you have everything you need and all the tools before getting this started or it's going to be way more frustrating then it needs to be.     also, the video is only spot on if its a first-gen Tacoma. not sure about the 2nd or 3rd gen.
