Is it legal to mount my liscence plate to the under side of this bumper (leaning toward thw ground)? Or does it have to go on the front?

I ran mine with the top jammed under the winch fairlead and the bottom held in by self tapping screws. The only person that ever said anything was a rent-a-cop working the gate at the JRB.

I see a lot of people run them like that. I havent ran one in a few years. 1 cop told me I was supposed to have one and then wrote me a ticket for speeding.
On my next bumper I'm gonna put it back on with one of these. If you go this route bamf has some from the P******b*** warehouse buyout for a little better price. http://www.bayareametalfab.com/Casc...inch-License-Plate-Mounting-system_p_117.html

By the letter of the law it has to be on the forward most point of the vehicle. But, it's all at officers discretion. We never put one on the Jag for the 2 years we had it and I doubt ill ever bother to put one on the Infiniti unless she gets harassed over it.

My dad has a F250 with a ranch hand bumper, and he has been stopped 3 times. He has the 2" hitch receiver in the front, so he has his plate on a slide in receiver.

My wife had a ‘99 TJ since new that we sold about 5 years ago. She put a tube bumper on it about a year into owning it, and my father in law(think Hank Hill) was the only one who ever gave us crap about it. He brought it up often. He even made her a new bracket to hang on the bumper, he was a sheetmetal worker. It annoyed him that she wouldn’t use it. He’s an interesting guy.

I'm more of a Tim the Tool Man Taylor, so hopefully while mounting it to under side of the bumper, I wont catch something on fire or accidentally drill a hole in the oil pan.

yeah its weird. My dad ran around DFW for 6 years in his Corvette without a front plate. Never had an issue. I got in a wreck and had the front bumper torn to hell, got pulled over 3 times in one week for no front plate considering the piece where the plate mounts was in my trunk. Lol.

Is the ARB/OME lift still considered the best bang for the buck basic kit? I think my front struts are on the decline and current financial situation doesn't allow for anything super fancy.

For wheeling, OME. For looks, 5100s.
