Here is the thing, If positioned right and if you run a T case skid plate it hides the Y pipe and exhaust system so well that as long as they see a cat system is in place they won't be able to see it if the bypass piping and cutouts if it's run on the inside facing towards the engine.

Yeah and I know the feeling about the stinky exhaust.. My damn car stinks because it is catless. Honestly wouldn't mind putting the stock exhaust back on if the previous owner gave it to me when I bought it.

I just wonder if gutting would be easier, and then further down the exhaust you could do the bypass system with maybe a couple high flow cats.

There's not enough room for that sort of thing and high flow cats are bound to fail in short order because they don't have enough "meat" in them to work well for very long. They would get spotted SUPER quick anyways.

Here are the 12-15 cats. It looks like the O2 sensors are sort of in the way of running an online bypass bypass pipe if facing it on the engine side.

That would be nice.. I think it has a resonator on it already but it needs some kind of cat, the damn thing stinks, especially going through any kind of drive through with the windows down.

edit btw just making sure you know, I'm not talking about my tacoma :D

Put some shorties on there but make the pipe straight through the cat body.

Shorties defeats the purpose of doing the work in the first place. It's not exactly like it's EASY to do shorties unless you know how to weld and have all of your resources centralized in the same shop or garage. Not all of us are that talented brother. Lol. I'm not talented enough to know how to weld at all. Lol.

Or we can just buy AFe twisted steel shorty manifolds with integrated manifolds already built into them and just bolt them on and go instead of screwing around with pulling manifolds and cutting then welding and bla bla bla.. then just use the CARB sticker for the JBA headers. No one would know the difference. Lol.

Get cats, empty them. Weld pipes through them, so they appear to be cats but you eliminate the expansion chamber effect of empty cats.

Thank you, have no doubt you will.
Now, on removing that ECU, got all the plugs disconnected, no problem there.
Re getting the unit out, do I unscrew the four phillips screws that appear to be holding the unit to the bracket, or remove the bolts and bracket assembly?
I think the bracket needs to be removed, as the screws look like they hold the UCR together.. If it's the bracket, how do I get to the back top bolt?

OK, found this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-swap-2013-tacoma.602328/, looks like it might just be three bolts. Think I got it figured out. Will repost if I run into any issues.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Bingo, take the brackets out with the ECU, then take the brackets off the ECU once out.
