pay a lot of money for new cats. or get long tube headers or a new Y pipe depending on where they cut the cats from

Someone made off with my sons a couple years ago in front of out house. A stock unit costs a ton of money, or you can go to autozone a get one for $100.

Your insurance might help out. I think if you go to the dealership the bill could go as high as a thousand bucks...better off getting a aftermaket one.

    Get a dog:D.

But seriously, that sucks:mad:. I've heard of this crap. I pray it never happens to me. Karma's a bitch. On a similar note, about a year ago someone stole my dad's rear driveshaft off his 89' 4Runner while it was parked in his driveway. Thank god for 4wd or he wouldn't have been able to go to work.

Welcome to the club,,had mine stolen about 3-4 yrs ago.

Some methheads with a battery operated sawzall,,hacked off my pass side mudflap,,so they could get at the cat easier and saw that off.

About a week later, a local hospital security dude chased a guy out from the hospital parking lot. seen the guy laying under a car with a sawzall buzzing. the perp jumped into a flatbed truck with his buddy and made off.

The back of the flatbed was full of cat converters. pretty sure mine was in there, or a good chance of it.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
Catalytic converters contain a lot of precious metals they can sell to make more money than your run of the mill scrap metal hence why they cost a ton to replace.

Sorry to hear man, been going on for years as far as I know but seems to go in streaks. Not too many people willing to crawl under a car I guess.

Toyota cats contain more Palladium (extra clean burn) than most,,hence the thieves go for them, and why they are astrinomically expensive to replace.

Any thing you can do to prevent or deter this like is done on tailgates with the hose-clamp mod, for example? If I saw someone lying underneath my truck, they better hope they've sold enough stolen converters to buy a new set of testicles.

If you do a search on the internet you should come up with a couple of different locks for them. It's been a long time since I looked

It was at an industrial complex off 285 and santa fe.

Apparently there is a lot of this going on. I called Stevinson Toyota and they said they had a number of calls about stolen cats up in the highlands area.

Is there a TRD replacement? Might as well make this an upgrade.

my suggestion just sell your stock headers...and get yourself some DTLH, URD Competition 4x4 y-pipe, and URD Exhaust w/Super Turbo Quiet Muffler...you will be a happy camper...the muffler helps tames the rasp down...:D
