Im not looking to spend 3k or 4 k on new suspension.

Im just looking for a softer ride. I’m just a little confused about all the options and opinions out there.

My buddy has Stage 1 Icons on his 2018 Ram 1500 Diesel. We both lifted our trucks at the same time. They ride amazing, but not sure on the durability or overall feedback on them long term since I never did much research on Icon. The only feedback I ever heard was from Dustin, the owner of FN Wheels, when I bought some wheels from him we were talking shop and he told me to not buy the lower stages of Icon, they rust quickly and are not as durable. Maybe just his personal experience or possibly a trend. He just told me to stay away. Dont know. Nonethless, I will admit the Icon Stage 1 set up felt slightly better than my Bilstein set up. Better as in more plush.

Thanks for the feedback! I have heard similar things about reliability and durability which does kind of scare me away. Especially when I can spend less and I haven’t ever heard of bilsteins leaking I do know they rust but that can be slowed with some clear coat.

If you are wanting a softer ride you may want to go the fox route then. You’d probably even be able to get away with the 2.0’s and save some coin. I had those on my f250 and they rode great. Only reason I’m not going that route this time is because I want something beefier.

my truck has been lifted for a few years now. I honestly do not recall what the stock sport set up feels like. My wife did mention it felt softer/smoother than stock though

Question for the guys who are running the 6112's set up with the AAL, what spring rates did you use with the 6112? I put mine in the highest setting with the 700lb spring rate and got 2" AAL and all was done and installed..my front was waay higher than the rear.

@neenjaa I didnt go with an AAL. I bought the Icon leaf pack and put it on the 1st setting with the extra leafs at home in case I ever need them. Now I sit more level to the naked eye. Prior to adding the new leaf pack my front my WAY higher.

but did you just use the springs that came with the 6112? I was told to get the 700lb rated one because stock 3rd gen springs are 700lbs. So i think that or the spring length jacked up the front crazy high with the matched AAL. I ask because I notice some guys here have done the exact set up and achieved a nice rake or even leveled their trucks where as mine looks dumb lol. The only thing I can't find with their set ups are the springs rates/length, if that even does anything.

700 pounds is a lot more than the standard 6112 springs.
I’m using the standard spring, at the fifth setting and using a 1.5” AAL. The first couple of weeks it was nose high but then settled out really well.

@WZ00R2 I second this comment. It settle nicely after a few weeks. Im on the top clip and used the springs that came with the 6112 kit.

damn, @WZ00R2 you're truck looks awesome! how does the the front ride with the springs it came with? I just really dont understand how the stock springs are rated 700lbs and the 6112 kit comes with 600. I'm planning on putting a winch mount bumper ( not a full bumper ) and a winch in the future so I figured the 700lbs made sense but now I'm not so sure on the height it adds and some people say the 700 will wear out the shock faster?

sorry for all the questions. Im a newb and I planned on having things done once but its not working out. lol

    Thank you!

I have zero complaints. I’ve had this set up for about 5 months and I absolutely love how the truck rides and handles now. It’s like driving a completely different truck.

Is it possible to adjust the settings while the coilovers are on the truck or do you have to pull them off? Seems like there is quite a variance in what some people are getting in the front. I want to get right at 2 inches and nothing over. Seems like some people on the 5/6 settings are getting quite a bit over that. Just hate to get them on just to have to take them back off to adjust. Think I’m going to go 4 or 5 setting w/ a 1/4 spacer for driver side and see what happens. Will be running SPC UCAs, 5160s in rear w/ progressive leaf pack.

Here is another pic of mine from a different angle.

I'm using the standard springs at the 5th setting with a 1.5" AAL in the rear. On my 2020 truck, the lift was right at 2" for the front.

When you say 5th setting, are both driver's and passenger side 5th, or do you run 6/5 or 5/4?

Both on the 5th clip with a spacer on the driver's side for lean. This would equate to the 5/6 setting.

Love the wheel color! I just got a 2020 cement OR and looking at the 6112/5160 combo with AAL as well. Do you see a need for a CMC with this setup?? Also, did you add UCA's and extended brake lines?

Nope, I have zero rubbing with the 255s.
I kept the factory UCA as mine aligned fine and doesn't rub. The 5160s come with a brake line spacer and nothing else was needed.

I love this setup. It was super straight forward to install and rides great. The only thing I would change if done again would be the rear AAL. I would use the Headstrong AAL instead of the Icon unit I have.
