Show your 285/75/16 and 285/70/17

I haven't noticed a difference yet, but I've really only been driving to work and back lately. Once I get out driving more I'll probably notice a decrease

 

Love how the trucks looks ! I just got the same one and wanted to know how does it drive with the bigger tires and wheel being a 2.7L engine. Also does the 3/1 lift make it perfectly level or would the 3/2 be better ? Did you have to drill holes for the adding the flares or just the screws and double sided 3m tape ? Thank you !

 

it should be negligible if you’ve got a proper suspension soon setup. Too many, though, buy a cheap ass suspension setup, then complain E rated tires made their ride stiff. I have E rated KM3s on my Tacoma with Kings and C rated KO2s on my 4Runner with BP-51s and my Tacoma rides much nicer (and the BP-51 are still nicer than what most guys put on). I’m not saying E isn’t a stiffer heavier tire, it is, but the ride quality shouldn’t be as impacted as most make it out to be if you’ve got a good suspension setup.

That what was on my mind too. You throw suspension and tires on at the same time, plus your already worried about the stiff tires. It’s easy to blame the tires for a rough ride.

 

A lot of people install tires and lifts at the same time so it would be really hard to have an objective opinion on tire stiffness if you don’t independently test each component.
I’ve done just that, I installed Icon socks UCAs and leafs, with stock tires, then switched to E rated KO2’s, it’s a significant difference.
I also did a simple 5100 level lift and tried it with stock tires and then E’s, again, big and annoying difference in my opinion.
We’re testing C vs E KO2’s next, which admittedly would be a better comparison but I didn’t have those on hand before.
E rated tires are popular because they are very common at that size but also because it is a very good idea to have them if you are actually taking your truck off-road, for reasons that I’m sure you are aware of

5.29 regear with scs f5 3.5bs so they stick out a lot more. 285/75/16, E load ST MAXX. I've noticed about 3-4 mpg loss on highway so far, best i've seen is 17mpg at basically 90% highway. around town has been about the same at around 15mpg which was what about what I got bone stock around my area, but there's a lot of hills where I live. I've been tracking mpg a lot with my scangauge 2 and corrected for tire size. Gonna try and slow down to around 63ish mph and i think I could net closer to 19mpg.

Thanks man! Like wise! Currently they are set at 10mm. Have had no issues with topping out the shocks given that I’m not running any wait atm. Plan on just running a front bumper and sliders. Compression set at its lowest, rebound at around 4. Rides like a dream!
