Has anyone done a spare tire mount on these yet? I saw the one for under the bed rack system but couldn't find anything in the thread for on top of the racks.

Stainless only, we use 316 marine grade stuff because shiny looks a whole lot better than rust.

no noticeable hit to mpg, the rack are light, low and aerodynamic. as far as battery operated scenePODs, if you can find a weatherproof 12v battery pack and are comfortable with wiring then you could attach a plug with and interrupter to the battery pack and then link all of the scenePODs together with one common plug.

Does anyone have a step by step guide on wiring up the Alpha rack for dummies? I want to tackle this by myself, but have never attempted anything like this and am afraid I'll screw something up. Links would be great if you have something.

    Brief Overview.

    1. figure out desired lights and electronics
    2. determine amp draw
    3. determine 'run' or length of wire needed
    4. determine gauge of wire based off of amps and run
    5. wire rack (easiest to do on a table or stand)
    6. drop headliner and necessary panels
    7. drill hole in roof (cleanest install)
    8. run wiring harness in cab and to engine bay
    9. wire switches, fuses, relays or to make it easy an sPOD or switchpro
    10. Light up the world.

OR check out our quickwire kits!

well not the exactly, but in shameless self promotion of my build thread.. check out the rock lights I did, more important the custom harness. hopefully it will give you some ideas on how to create your harness if you go that way. Keep in mind it is a lot of work. and can take some space to keep everything laid out properly so you don't get confused and make a mistake

For whatever reason I thought it would be a good idea to punch mine while the stripping was lain over the round side of a stump I had pulled out of the ground. Needless to say my holes were WAY off, and crooked as a dirty politician. I've probably found all the wrong ways to install my rack so far. But it's on the truck now, and I'm pretty darn happy with it.

I might give you a run for your money in that regard, but I too am very happy with the rack.

Just a guess, but perhaps because there is no light bar in there? I would at least wait to put some real effort behind solving the issue until the x6s is in there. I just got my x6s today after a 33 day wait, so depending on when you ordered, you might get it soon.

That's a crisp setup. Where'd you acquire that box? Can't tell if it's metal or plastic.
