I've got a Husky 51 & a Husky 455 that I use for firewood and other tree work, but when I was riding trails regularly I just brought along a double-bit cruiser axe for blowdowns. It was nearly as fast for the average tree, took up less space, and didn't leak bar & chain oil (which my 51 does, if you don't store it on its side)

I bought the new Ryobi 18v Brushless chainsaw because it's small and light and since I already carry a couple of the batteries for running Camp lights and my impact wrench "if needed" it was a no brainier for me. I also have the DC charger for the truck and it does charge the batteries just fine. Last weekend I used the chainsaw cleaning up the yard and I was impressed how long one 4Ah battery lasted. So far the only negative I had with the saw is while storing it the bar oil did leak.

I have the ryobi 18v DC charger and it charges my batteries just fine, the only issue I had was the spring tip keep pushing the cord out of the cigarette lighter over the bumps on Golden Rd.

Before I bought the Roybi chainsaw I carried a Fiskars pruning saw. Last year I took out a down 12" round pine across a tail in NH, Two of us took turns but it worked.

I'm a bow saw guy myself, but I plan on carrying a small one hander with some extra gas+oil in the bed box next winter. I have an hour commute each way to work on some fairly out of the way roads, so when we get storms like last month, it makes getting home at 3 am questionable.

thinking I'll stick with the Husqvarna 240 once I get her all rebuilt, and churning wood bits. found a 39cm piston, and cylinder kit on Amazon, supposed to give it a bit of a boost. I also ordered a new carb kit with all the filters, and gaskets. i'll run this for a while, and maybe down the road I'll get myself a new saw.. nothing bigger than 16in bar.. seems to be the all around bar size that will cut what I will be out there cutting. anything bigger and it can become a hazard, as well as wasted space/overkill.

Is your truck already squatting, or is it just the camera angle screwing with my head?

Past due, in my opinion. If you can wear a mask in Lowes or Wal-Mart with 200 other a-holes you can wear one at the local small business with 3 other people.

I don't know if you heard it but they had the guy from the North Maine Woods on the Maine Outdoors radio show yesterday and he said they will be open for camping starting on May 18th. Some check points will be manned, others won't be depending on what day you go. You can download the forms you need online and they will have drop boxes for the forms and fees.
I will be heading up the first week of June, can't wait!

I think I am heading up to NMW the week of June 1st. Hopefully the black flies are really thick then! I want to do some exploring north and west of Clayton Lake. A couple of years ago I found a great campsite on the St. John river. Might be my destination. I'll look for you!

Yes I like feeding the local wildlife as well, black flies! We will probably be a bit south and east of you but I will keep an eye out. We will be easy to spot 2 Tacos, a Runner, and a Jeep TJ.

Not me. I've been taking my Thermacell out with me Turkey Hunting. It makes a world of difference for the winged pests, but doesn't do anything for the ticks.

anyone know a company that would cut me 4 brackets (designed after the KBvoodoo high rise bed brackets), but taller I want to get the tent approx 3 inches taller off the bed.
this style.. I like the interlocking design, and seems plenty stable to handle 3" more height..
