Rear disc brake conversion on 2nd gen

    2.5 inch suspension lift front with rancho 9000 quick lift struts, rear rancho shock absorbers with 2.5 inch sky jackers add a leaf springs in rear. extra 2 inch long braided front brake lines with radiator flush, transmission flush, brand new front brake rotors, calipers, and shoes all done myself. more to come
    The only thing you’d have to worry about is “brake fade” with drum brakes, but that is mainly for racing cars. But seeing as most of your stopping power is done with the front disk brakes, the drums will do just fine on the rear.

    for some though, it looks better with disk brakes.
    No point in upgrading to rear disks though unless it is something you want to do. I’d say use that money you are thinking on rear disk brakes and use it to upgrade the fronts to a big brake kit.

    But hey. I’m going to do the conversion eventually on my 07. I like how it looks with all 4 disks lol. So if you can and want to. Do it. It’ll only make it work better. Hell. Do the fronts if you haven’t already along with it if you can lol

    And also on some there is electronic master cylinder like mine. It is on the 4x4 off road pros. So a pneumatic one like in sos will not work

    That one is the nicest to bleed, if it is the kind where you just hold the pedal down, and it keeps pumping. Like the T4R.

    It does make bleeding more easy. I agree. I just hope it never goes out lol. Expensive to replace

    If yours looks like this. There is no need to replace it. This is the electronic master cylinder. Also since we are on brakes. I recommend getting speed bleeders for your calipers

    Figured it all out. We're doing it wrong. We don't need disk upgrades. We need larger drum upgrades, for better leverage. Can't believe it took me so long to figure that out. Now to put a kit together.

    My question with the vid is, the one that is stopping on a dime uses XXXXX-18 and every other comparison uses drums, -14 or -16. Would a tractor with -18 and wide drums on the drives stop any better? Vid doesn't show it unless I missed it.
