I checked over the weekend and it still says no camping and if caught, you’ll be fined.

The trails are open and I think you can stay in a hotel, but for whatever reason no camping.

    you seeing something different?

Yea, Moab started relaxing some restrictions but camping is still prohibited. You could stay in an AirBNB or RV park I think...

    Information on Moab and COVID-19

    https://www.discovermoab.com/covid-19/

Essentially, you can do everything but camp.

Visiting, recreating or both? I'm guessing everything outdoors is crowded. One will have to go to hard to get to place to escape the crowds, I imagine.

San Juan county just south of Moab is open to dispersed/primitive camping.

Very odd thing this Covid scenerio.... Would think campin' in the middle of nowhere would be allowed but Big Brother knows best.

Stayed at this unmarked private campground once. Was completely empty and cheap. Good spots and portaShitterz close. Just fill out tag and drop some $$ in da box. Did poison spider, golden spike, gold bar rim, and exited gemini bridges to randomly find this place right at end of trail!

I’ve wondered the same thing, I guess some of it came down to cleaning the outhouses and using resources such as search and rescue. So much of it doesn’t make sense. I had some very nice reservations in the backcountry of the needles district. Sadly they got cancelled. Back there is social distancing at its finest.

    not enough.
I'm sure Moab will ease up here pretty soon. SLC has eased up quite a bit. Finally.

I'm not so sure. I think they are seeing the BLM freecamping "Lord of the Flies" disaster happening right over the border in the Grand Junction area and are gonna keep tight for a while. GJ has the benefit of a large IMC grade hospital right in town, Moab has nothing of the kind.
