It's been rough. But she has college to look forward to in the fall. Hopefully by then this will begin to fade.

 

My daughter felt like her world was ending and nothing would ever be as good. She was in school with most of these kids since the first grade. I'll bet she spent more waking hours with them than she did us. But, as you say, college came,then a Masters program and the memories faded as oppotunites opened. She is still close with five or six of her class, this social media thing changed things a lot. Guess it has an up-side.

 

Redoing my roommates bathroom, expanding and upgrading. This is why I had a truck.

 

Well, sad day today. My time with this Tacoma is officially done. The inner fender (both pieces) crumpled exactly like they should in an accident. Those pieces are not easy to get and are difficult to replace. At 260k, the old girl is going to pasture. That being said, if anybody needs/wants any stock Tacoma parts, I'd be happy to sell and ship (buyer pays shipping) to fund the acquisition of my next Tacoma. I enjoyed my time in this one too much to not stay with the model. My turbo engine is on hold for the time being, depends on if I get a second or third gen next. So many hopes and dreams and plans out the window with one deer. I'm cleaning out the truck as I type this, and it's not any easier to do. I can promise that.

 

Sorry brother. I hope you do stay in a Tacoma, if possible. We like having ya around here.

 

Also....to everyone. I go back to work for the 1st time in 2 months tomorrow. So my per day post count will go back to pre pandemic levels.

Started out the deconstruction in style.

First up was the remaining headlight and bumper, those came off with a couple zip ties being cut and a bit of persuasion.

This shows how far back the core support was pushed. You can see hints of the inner fender being damaged. Gratuitous shot of how far back the core support was pushed. Begone foul fender! Got the radiator and condenser out of the way. Nothing is where it should be sheet metal wise. Here you can really see how buckled/bent the inner fender is. It crumpled just like it was supposed to. Strapped the hood down for the foreseeable future.

And that's pretty much the end of it. Funny pic of my roommate help remove the radiator by becoming "one" with the truck...

 

What are you going to do with her?

Try and sell it for whatever I can get, part out any extras I guess. Two good sets of tail lights, one set of headlights, 4wd front bumper cover, auto dimming mirror I hadn't installed yet, seat covers I hadn't installed yet, bed cleats, whatever else somebody may want.

 

Should have thrown a firecracker and watch the beheading..

 

Here is my 2020 Limited. Added weathertech rainguards and sunroof guard. Everything else came on it. Bye Bye Beemer. Back to hauing my kayak and dog round. Love it!

 

Sorry for the loss. Do you know if the headlights will fit a 2008 4x4? Mine are cracked and hazy...
