Polyurethane Radiator Support Mounts (Cab Also)

Gonna be way easier the other way. Buy the full kit, sell the rad bushings.

 

Personal opinion... The radiator bushings in the kit sucks.

Change my mind.

I'll have to get back to you on that, black truck has rad kit bushings and full kit cab mounts. I just installed the full kit on brown truck this week.

 

They are too soft and don't provide the increased surface area which the standalone

Was planning on tackling replacing my bushings today. Just a couple quick questions first:

1. This is the correct bushing to replace, right? Also, when jacking up the truck just enough to get the old bushings out/new bushings in... where is the best place to jack the truck up from? Can I just jack from the pinch weld right underneath that butterfly/moth wing or is that not strong enough? I assume it only needs to be lifted ever so slightly to take the pressure off the bushings.


2. Here is a picture of my current (old) bushings, do they look bad enough to replace yet?

 

hard to tell in your dirty mirror. Do they squeak or give you any other indication that they need to be replaced? Regardless, the majority of the "damage" that will be done is on the interior and won't be visible until you remove them.

Yes, that is the correct one. I probably wouldn't lift it by the pinch weld, but I think I used the flat metal surface right next to it with a 2x2 piece of wood since the jack isn't that tall.

 

Been using the kit longer than this thread has been active. I don't off-road though. No problems to mention.

 

Lol, the mirror itself is corroding away. They make no indication of needing to be replaced. No squeaks, clunks, etc. Thanks for the tip on where to lift the cab from.

$34 9.4101G UNIVERSAL MOUNT

9.4101G kit installed this weekend. Large puck up top (no washers), small puck on bottom. Im not overly thrilled with it tbh. Due to the little cup in the frame support and the metal sleeve in the bushing being too short, the long bolt is barely even finger tight before it starts to deform the bushings. I paint pen'd the nut and it doesnt seem to be moving, but I havent driven very much given the current Covid situation.

Does anyone know the thread and pitch of those long bolts? Ideally I would like to take this kit out and get the real ones (from the full body mount

8.4109G kit) sometime in the future. But in the meantime I'll probably try to grab some jamb nuts and wind a few of those on there just for my peace of mind.

Im guessing M10 x 1.25mm?

 

Well for future reference if anyone needs to know, the bolts that hold the Tacoma core supports in place are M10x1.25 thread. Specifically the JIS variety, so it takes a smaller wrench than a normal M10 (14mm in this case).

 

One bolt on mine is seized in the sleeve on the radiator and will need to be cut out. Can I just replace with any bolt with the same shank? Does it matter?

 

Does anyone have the radiator bushings from the kit they didn't use?

 

Did anyone else put the large bushing on the bottom?

Yeah mine are shot. I seen this thread and seen a lot of people went with the universal ones instead of the ones that came with the kit. How much would you want for them?

 

Just got my bushings in the other day. Before I start installing them, I just wanted to make sure I did install them correctly. I do have a plate bumper and just wanted to make sure that that thicker bushing with the washer was on top. I read though this thread with different responses.
