I am sold on the 6112s/5160s and I already have the 5160s sitting in the garage waiting and now I am looking to purchase the 6112s and I thought I was set on the 5/6 setup but now may be considering the 5/4 only because I am not wanting to go more than a 2 inch lift. Was also thinking of the getting the KING 700lb spring but I am understanding that this will make the ride stiffer? I don't plan on putting a winch on or loading weight on the front. Some advice will be appreciated. In regards to the rear with the 5160s, I will be going with AAL but not sure with what brand.

A 700lb spring will ride much stiffer if you are not planning to add additional weight.

Your third gen truck, if a double cab, will be raised the 2" you want at the 5/6 setting.

Thank you. Hopefully it'll help a little.

I stayed with the stock height. I didn't want to go down a rabbit hole of upgrades which knowing me I would've quickly done.

This is an amazing review. Especially for people looking for a before and after perspective as well as a stock configuration. Thank you for your input and I will reference this with anyone that asks again. BTW, what year truck do you have? It will make a difference in the future when people ask.

I have an 18 without much extra weight. Just sliders and the factory tonneau cover. Tires are stock sized BFG KO2 on stock wheels without changing tire pressures.

Thanks for the intelligent assessments. I share your before experiences, but with one additional point in regards to my 2017 TRD OR with KO2's and some side armoring. When I descend a dip in a minor roadway, the rear bottoms out and hits the stops on the way back up. This happens even with only a cooler or two in the bed.

I recently purchased a pair of 6112s for the front and 5100's for the rear, which I'll be installing soon. I'm hoping that the 5100's will help with the rear bottoming. If not, I'll try either a heftier shock or an aal.

Exactly my experience as well. I think I even did a very similar test in my initial impressions when I installed the 6112s. They absorb the shock much better than the stock suspension and keep the tires planted much better. The faster you go in 6112/5160's the smoother they get. It's really awesome.

Side effect of the shit-tier factory leaf springs, unfortunately. Upgrading shocks will not fix it. It's not a shock issue, it's a spring issue. A 3-Leaf AAL kit will take care of that problem for you for the majority of terrain as long as you're not hauling a lot of weight.

Great post, reviews of these at stock height are few and far between.

This answered a question I had, at stock height these are not harsher than stock OR shocks in any of the tested off road conditions. Did I get that right?

After upgrading from 5100's, here's my very brief and summarized experience with the 6112/5160 combo, at max ride height, with two different wheel offset setups (note: I have the 600lb spring with little weight added to the truck, no sway bar, and LT tires):

with 0 offset, it is a very noticeable improvement over the 5100's driving through potholes and uneven roads. I barely feel them at speeds of +40mph/60kph.

with -31 offset, the bilsteins still perform fairly well at the speeds mentioned above. However, anything slower and its pretty unsettling. I'd say they perform slightly worse than the 5100's with 0 offset wheels. I knew wider offsets would negatively affect the performance of the suspension, but this caught me by surprise for sure.

I will probably settle with -10 offset once SCS restocks the wheels im looking for. will most likely switch to long travel down the road. Hope this helps anyone with similar wheel/tire set ups looking to grab these.

Or 2.25-2.5" like I got initially :)... mine is settled at 2" DS, 2.25" PS after almost 2 years.

Anyone here clearing 33s with 6112?
I've CMC done and I'm clearing with 700lb coils and 6th top notch on 6112 but I'm planning on swapping to 650lb coils and drop the notch form 6th to 5th to gain little softer ride from current harsh ride I've.

Below are the rough measurements I took just now.

    Front driver side:
Center wheel hub to bottom fender: 25”
Front driver side tire to front inner fender 2.9”
Front tire to rear inner fender 2.9”

    Front passenger side:
Center wheel hub to bottom fender: 25”
Front driver side tire to front inner fender 2.9”
Front tire to rear inner fender 2.9”

    Full turn left:
Front driver side tire to cmc: 1”
Front pass side tire to front inner fender: 1.7”

    Full turn right side:

Front driver tire side to front inner fender: 1.5”
Front passenger side tire to cmc: 1”

Lots are clearing them with the standard springs the 6112s come with at the 5th setting. I bet a 700lb spring on the 6th setting is pretty harsh.

The real issue will be your wheel and tire choice.

Tires Falken WildPeak AT3W (285/70R17) Load range E.
Wheels: FN fx Pro 17x8 with 0 offset.
Rear Dakar HD leaf pack + Overload leaf resulting in about 1" rake. Now that I think about it maybe safer to just stay with top 6th notch and replace the spring 700 > 650.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bilstein-6112.421995/page-163

I recall 33s front tires were touching the inner fender lining when going over dip when on 4th notch and 700lb springs. So I'm guessing 650 and 5th notch would be same?

Plan is to run 265/75/r16, 6112s, 5160s, and an aal. What considerations need to be made with this? Dif drop, needle bearing, etc. I'm looking to keep a bit of rake as well, but I am most worried about causing premature wear as this is my daily. I'm new to this so any help is appreciated!
