It's an expensive solution if all you are trying to do is avoid smog. But it's a nice perk if you're looking to buy some land anyway.

same. I would've gotten more aggressive but 2.85 and the upgraded fuel pump was the most I wanted to do (spend) at the time. I had milo install the fuel pump when he boxed the frame but I haven't installed the pulley yet. Still want to get a boost and afr gauge but im lazy and will pull a fernando.

I just did a smog on mine when i transferred it to my name and they didn’t even bat an eye. Just smogged it and off i went. Wonder if it’s because its a trd SC and looks stock:notsure:
Thats will likely be something I do as well.
Really don’t want to get too much deeper into it than that. But it’s a slippery slope.

Anyone an electrical guru? I'm considering removing subs that came with the runner but haven't decided whether or not I want to pursue this endeavor.

Two sub boxes are taking up some needed space if I am considering sleeping in the rig as well as adding some sort of drawer system.

The only thing I DO like is that I have an 800w power inverter in the rear already hardwired to the battery so I probably would be keeping that but the subs/amp I don't really need atm. @MattJakobs you'll see the cargo area this weekend and it would be good to hear your opinion on what I might be able to do!

Shiny stuff in the engine bay is always a gamble, but it depends on who's doing the smog alot of the time too. My most recent smog after adding my SC, the guys eyes went straight to my blue anodized oil catch can, points at it and says “supercharger”?
I had to hold in my laughter

No electrical guru but I'm sure we can get those subs removed no problem if that's what you're going for

    A few things
I have a smaller pulley on another supercharged car. I found the most generic black one I could find, and no smog tech has ever blinked an eye at it. I know nothing about Tacoma superchargers, but maybe someone makes one less eye catching.

I know what you mean. luckily my buddy Matt stays off the forums (@STiLL WILL --> https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/still-wills-matt-2013-super-charged-white-dcsb-t-x-pro.266394/). He's who got me into the tacoma and it would've been a real slippery slope if I followed him down the engine mod path instead of this overweight rock crawler path.

the only thing you'd really have to do is disconnect the power wire from the battery in the engine bay and maybe the remote / trigger wire from behind the head unit. if anything, I'd say disconnect the power from the engine bay and then remove the amps + subs in the rear. I'd keep the power wire in place in case you want to leave the inverter or add a power block in the rear in the future.

I'd have to see where the wires are running too...there are two boxes I think one is an amp and the other a distribution block so I'll have to trace wires back

Anyone have a pair of crimpers that will work for battery cables around the Concord area? I don't need them yet, just thought I'd see if there are any floating around? Just need to make 8 crimps on some cables.

What gauge wire? I've got these you can use anytime, in Walnut Creek. Definitely better for 16-22 gauge more than anything else though.
