Whoops, I need them for battery lugs I think the cable is 2 AWG. I have some for the smaller wire, but thank you! Once this shit show is over you'll have to come over for a BBQ, you're right down the road.

I can't say no to that

For thicker gauge wire, I usually just punch it. Two hits on one side, and one centered hit on the other side. So far so good with all my thicker gauge wire

I have lug crimpers if that’s what you are looking for. Good for 0-10 gauge wire.

after shredding a belt that got wedged up in the crank pulley i was nervous as hell to start my truck. saw a post in the supercharger thread about a guy that cut ribs off the sc belt and the truck ate it.

first the pulley install tool thread stripped so i had to fix the tool to get the pulley on.
then my dumb ass didn't check the sc belt which led to an angry, frustrating fix.
since bullshit comes in threes i was thinking i am in for one more.

but the green and red are playing nicely so far. holy f-ing boost :yay:

The ribs are for her pleasure. Well to keep the belts on. You don't want to cut them. When you do, the belt slips at that spot and then slams into the next rib. Usually, it breaks that rib off if not on this revolution, the next will. The bigger the gap, the faster the belt comes apart. It never ends well and it almost never lets you get to someplace you have half a chance of getting a new one.

i usually just grab the biggest pair of vice grips I have and slowly crimp each side of the terminal/lug, turn the adjustment knob to crimp it smaller, release and repeat until its super tight. Its not as quick and nice as a proper crimper but very doable and comes out solid each time.

the Gates FleetRunner are more stout than the regular variety and i think they only come in 6 and 8 rib flavours. since we need 5 ribs for the 4.0 SC you have to cut ribs out so the belt will fit. it was kind of sketchy doing this for the first time. i could see where a slip of the knife could cut into one of the 5 needed ribs causing premature failure. if you don't fully remove the ribs i could see where the belt system might grab onto the partially cut rib and you would be in a situation like you described.

i am definitely picking up a spare 5-ribber.

My experience is with motorcycle drive belts. When you change the spacing between the ribs, they will be fairly quick to come apart.

I kept hearing a chain like noise after installing my mid skid. Finally looked under there again. I had left an old bolt on top of the mid skid:tinfoilhat:

this makes sense. when you jack with the integrity of an engineered product there may be unwanted effects. shit, now I want to start a tw poll to find out how many people do this and how many issues there are.

I'd totally do it in a pinch. The load on the belt isn't great, it'll do OK.
