the Gates FleetRunner are more stout than the regular variety and i think they only come in 6 and 8 rib flavours. since we need 5 ribs for the 4.0 SC you have to cut ribs out so the belt will fit. it was kind of sketchy doing this for the first time. i could see where a slip of the knife could cut into one of the 5 needed ribs causing premature failure. if you don't fully remove the ribs i could see where the belt system might grab onto the partially cut rib and you would be in a situation like you described.

i am definitely picking up a spare 5-ribber.

My experience is with motorcycle drive belts. When you change the spacing between the ribs, they will be fairly quick to come apart.

I kept hearing a chain like noise after installing my mid skid. Finally looked under there again. I had left an old bolt on top of the mid skid:tinfoilhat:

I'd totally do it in a pinch. The load on the belt isn't great, it'll do OK.

I guess it just shocks me to see how people use gloves-you're better off washing your hands. And for a billion weeks now, you're being told not to touch your face. Especially the eyes, nose, and mouth. Even today, the people telling you to wear a mask are face-handling

That right there is why we were told not to wear masks in the beginning of this horseshit. Having worn PPE off and on for the last 25 years I still touch my face. Scratch my ear, pick my nose, check where I missed shaving. Face palm all the time dealing with inept drivers. It's just the way it is. Hell, I'm still eating chips off the floor when I drop them. Open the bag with my teeth. Fuq it.

My ex worked with a guy who was ignorant of the whole PPE thing and they worked with radioactive iodine. Every couple of quarters, without fail, he’d be banned from working in that lab because he’d have too much in his thyroid. She said he used to start working, take his hands out of the hood and wipe his face or stick his gloves hand in his eye (glasses). No matter how many times he was told not to do that, he would still do it.

Even the professionals can’t keep there hands away from their faces.
