Big buck DOWN!!! "pics".

My friends Tia and her husband kevin and there 4 girls all hunt. All have taken several deer. (ages 9-18).
Tia's niece dropped this 15 pt buck that scored 206 1/2 early this evening.
She is 7 yrs old. Amazing!!!
I asked her how Morgan could contain herself and really she didn't know how big the deer really was till afterward.

"Well my brother saw the buck coming (today is the first day of Youth Season here in MO) and he said he felt sick to his stomach and he immediately looked at the ground and told her the buck was coming and he stuck his arm out for her to lay the end of the barrel over (22-250) and told her to be real careful and put the cross hairs on him and take a good shot (he was still staring at the ground, couldn't bring himself to look!!) BUT HURRY!! She said "Ok, Daddy". Then she shot and he looked up and saw the buck falling back. He was down where he stood. Then the whooping started!! This is her 3rd deer, she got a 6 point last year and I think a doe before that. They were hunting on the ground under a hedge tree (osage orange). We are about ready to head back out and see if we can catch any of the 12 we saw this morning coming back through. I've got a 9 year old (birthday was yesterday) that is just dying to get her first deer. It is so much more fun that hunting for yourself! As for containing herself, I don't think she had a clue how big he was before she put it down.

HOLY S*&#!!! I would LOVE to kill one as nasty that him! I'm in AL and they don't make em like that down here unless your on a high fence hunt!

I hear ya. The deer here in south carolina look like large dogs compared to when i get home to hunt in indiana and illinois.

 

She'll be a ringer when the zombie's invade. I hope I can get her on my team.
Gotta love kids getting involved at an early age. My friend and her family hunt for meat only. They dont care about trophy's, bragging rights, antlers. This one just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I would have love to see my Niece or nephews take this buck. Awesome shot and dropped it in his tracks.

The beams (antlers) coming off the skull (just above the eyes) are Eye guards. This buck has 2 on each side and they are split. That is a real (old) mature buck for sure. Young bucks (generally) don't have double eye-guards.

I think hes talking about the brow tines. First time I have ever heard them called eye guards. I would say that big fella is about 7 or 8 years old.

 

bahahahaha! Thats about the way it is here. We do get some fat deer but it's rare to see buck nasty down here in AL. The problem is, is that we are so overrun with whitetails it's insane. We have the largest percentage in North America and were allowed two does to a buck a day...too many deer. I can't wait till gun season opens up so I can slaughter something!!

 

I second that statement.

I quoted one of the most important parts of your post so others that have young'ens would make sure and get them out there. Even if you've never hunted, find someone to help you get your young'en out hunting, fishing and enjoying the shooting sports.


CONGRATULATIONS to her and the family!!!! My 9 year old daughter harvested a doe last year and I thought I was excited....wow what a bruiser!!!!

Yes, Brow tine = Eye guard. G1 same thing. I didn't want to confuse the guy. I'm a western hunter for our white tails most out west call them eye-guards.

Great job on her part, i have yet to get one with that nice of a rack and im 23! But ill be doing some south Texas hunting in a few weeks, hoping for a nice one.

 

Holy cow. Definatly a buck of a lifetime. I would be checking the record books also. That is a big ass deer for MO. Especially for a youth. Who did the scoring? What county was it killed in?
