The trip is open invitation if you’re interested. I just tossed it in this thread and and tagged a couple folks that I know ride.

I might just come camp/fish. I’m out of commission for riding, recovering from surgery. I spent 6-8 days/mo riding up there for 2 years. The shop employees and bartenders thought I was a local.

Last time I rode DuPont was on a hard tail Schwinn Moab back in like 2006. Fun times. I can't wait till my boys are old enough for us to go mountain bike, we'll have a lot of fun with that one day.

Anyone ever have an Amazon order go to a stranger’s house instead of yours? Some stuff I’ve been waiting on finally got marked “delivered” with a picture. And guess what. IT’S NOT MY HOUSE. Doesn’t even look like any of our neighbors either (all the houses were built by the same builder and have the same theme going on).

Best part is that amazon customer service told me “oh just wait another day or two, it might still be in transit. Message us after that and then we’ll look into it”. Yet they can see the delivery picture too and agreed it doesn’t even remotely match the description of our house. Ugh.

Are you just looking for the dimming signal? I tapped the light under the shifter when I did a dimming circuit long ago.

    Maybe?

When I did the 4x4 switch illumination, I tapped into a wire that goes to the A/C controls; but this is on the other side of the steering wheel. I ultimately would like the switch to illuminate when depressed. If I can do it easily, I'd also like for it to dim with the rest of the dash.

If I can't get a good solid answer, I'm just going to wire it up without power to the switch light and be done with it because I leave the switch off almost 100% of the time. I only really turn it on in poor visibility situations or when I'm creeping up toward a hunting spot and need to see but don't want to blast the area with white light.

It looks like your switch does not have 2 light circuits - only 1, to be illuminated when the dash lights are on. Unless the "on" light is built-in, which I cannot tell from your diagram.

If you want the switch light to dim with the dash lights, you need to tap into that circuit. The lights have their own power/ground circuit, different from the truck ground.

Yeah, I think we’re talking about the same thing as far as the dimming goes.

In my 05, if you take the shifter console out, there’s a little incandescent bulb under the PRND4321 lights. Super simple, just two wires: a switched +12V and ground. I tapped into the +12 to do similar to what you’re trying to do. It’s switched with the headlights so that it only comes on when your parking or headlights are on.

EDIT: Just reread your other post. If you combine both Green/Red2 to the same +12in for the switch, your light will be on all the time. If you connect Red1/Red2 to the +12out to the DTRL, the switch will only be lit when the DTRL is on. Connect as labeled in your pic to have the switch lit with your headlights. Ground can go any ground source; I personally like for each thing to have it’s own ground strap, but that’s personal preference. Looks like that particular switch does NOT have a circuit for dimming, so I don’t think you can have that option. The switch light is either on or off. Your choice is just when it’s on or off.

Nope but it sounded like it I bet. I greased everything and it has disappeared for now.

I ended up getting it to work. The top 2 wires, Green and Red1 went to either end of the DTRL wire. Red2 went to the green wire on the fog light switch, and Black went to the Green/White wire.

Light for the switch comes on when the headlights are one and dims with the rest of the dash. Other light in the switch comes on when the button is pressed.

So functionally, everything is working like I wanted it. The downside is that the switch is considerably brighter than the rest of the dash lights. I haven't driven at night to know if this will bother me, but I may end up cutting the red2 wire so that it is off most of the time and just illuminated when the button is pressed.

Glad it’s working! I don’t particularly enjoy wiring, every time I have to do it I remind myself “this is a labor of love”. Haha.

I enjoy "finishing" a wiring project, but I never enjoy the process.

Fortunately/unfortunately, that switch was a side project to the reason I was in there. I got everything else wired up correctly, but didn't have enough wire to get to the location that I want to put a switch for something else. So for now, it is twist-tied up behind the dash. The good news is that everything is working! I also need to get a step bit so that I can make the right sized hole for the switch.

Hey guys! Need some help. Figure now is as good of a time as any to start a business and I need some business name ideas. I’d like to include my middle name(Lamb) somewhere in the name. The company will be selling accessories for Tacoma’s(such as my winch switch bracket), eventually moving into other common “adventurous” vehicles. I would also like to move into producing camping/overlanding gear as well.

Some of my ideas so far:
    1. Lamb Engineered Goods
    2. Lamb Tech
    3. OverLamb Fabrications
Open to completely different suggestions as well!
