Because....fuck if I know. but if we want them to turn them off if they're on or vice versa, we have to literally call someone in Atlanta. You'd think they'd give us that power, but I guess we aren't responsible enough to control such luxuries. Better yet, you can't turn on the fans unless the cooler is on, but once that's on, you can keep them on even after the unit turns off.

I'm waiting for them to have me hook up the building here with smart thermostats that maintenance will be responsible for but I can control remotely to fuck with people I don't like!

yeah, that'll never happen here. Our department is still waiting on the "refresh" (basically a remodel with new stuff) that was said to be coming...wait for it................................................2 years ago

Ohh same here we were about to do a 3 million dollar+ remodel and I was going to get my server room and network closets all redone did nice like! They pulled the plug 2 years ago! And now are saying we'll be lucky to do it in the next 5.

 

I remember when I was still taking classes the campus I was on had a similar set up. It was controlled somewhere in Atlanta. It could be cold and rainy here and freezing in the classes because it was hot in Atlanta. Made zero sense to me.

Basically this. If it's hot here but not there, they won't turn it on unless we call. Same with the heater. Or if it's cooler here, they'll turn ours on if it's hot they. Some really brilliant shit
