I just bought a 2001 Toyota Tacoma SR5 with 84k miles on it a few weeks ago. Since the truck had a v4 engine the previous owner wanted to get more power out of it so purchased Gibson Headers, Gibson Exhaust, Injen air intake system, and Tenzo rims. I was thinking about possibly adding running boards or a bull bar, but i am really open to suggestions. I was hoping to spend maybe $1000 dollars just adding stuff on, so just tell me what you guys think I will try to attach a picture link below.

Thats a sweet little truck, don't ruin it with a bull bar.

If I was you I would look into lowering it a bit. Do some searching here and on customtacos.com for more info on lowering as I have no idea how its done lol.

Also a sound system would be cool.

As it is always said let people put on there trucks what they want. If they like it, then do it. If he wants a bull bar get a bull bar. Let me guess he should keep the black wheels on it right? And put on a bug deflector.

I'm not too sure on the bull bar but i am looking at all possibilities and I was just suggesting that as a possibility. What do you guys think about using "Plasti-dip" and making the badges black?

jeez, calm down. He basically asked for opinions and I gave him mine. I just don't think a bull bar would look good on a 5 lug street truck.

And yes, I love the wheels and the plain look. His truck looks awesome the way it sits IMO.

You could do that, I think I've seen it done that way somewhere on here. Most people just paint them though.

Hey, I was browsing in some other threads on plasti-dip, and some others have said that it might not stick to some of the emblems because they are "plasticky" any knowledge on that?

I'm not sure about that. I did mine the hard way by sanding and painting so i'm not sure about the plasti-dip.

    None yet.
That truck is begging for a lowering. Keep the same stance, just drop it 2 or 3 inches. It'd look mean as hell.

Personally while those rims are nice they do not belong on a Tacoma they just look out of place. Maybe if that was a Scion TC, IS300, or an RSX they would like good but not on a truck.

That being said, if I had $1,000 and that was my truck I'd purchase some OEM Tacoma wheels from either a 2001-2004, or you maybe even some black Pro Comp wheels and a meatier tire. Last I'd paint the grille to match the body, black out all the chrome, and sell those wheels and make your money back.

^^ I also think the rims look a bit out of place but i also think it makes the truck unique and if you saw it in person they are actually pretty cool. the rims are $1600 brand new (Thats what the guy i bought them from said) so i might consider selling them. He included the stock rims and tires as well so i may put those back on it and go for a diff. look. still deciding.

    haha agreed

I used it on my emblems and it worked fine. I've only had it on there for like a month so i really couldn't tell you how long theyll holdup for but so far for me its worked great.
