Guns are still in Australia despite what other believe. Shooting a croc is illegal unless in self defense and since that one only wanted the fish there was no cause.

Freshies are known to do that sneaky stuff as they are a bit lazier than the salties. As soon as they sense your fish weakening they’ll slide in to steal it. Allot of fellas will reel it in as long as they reckon it’s safe then drop the pole into a ready waiting bar mounted carrier and have the driver reverse quickly to get it away from the croc. I would go with my cousins and we would hop up onto the car and keep reeling while they reversed. Crocs can get their own bara.

I’ve had two salties try to get into the boat after we landed a catch. It’s maddening the first time it happens and I’ll admit a little per came out but a quit swat with a paddle or a gaf hook rod and they’ll back away. Usually keep a cricket bat with me after that to express the fish and to keep the salties in line.

Yeah, never had issues but always aware to keep shiny metal to a minimum. They are very curious and don't mind getting their picture taken, unlike most fish that turn away.

Everest is has been ruined for a long time, dead bodies, human shit, and garbage are everywhere. One upside is some of those instagrammers might win Darwin awards.

We’ve been supporting a cleanup through our climbing club to remove left behind rubbish, corpse identification, and providing them a dignified drop into a hidden valley. The goal is to demand that permit holders have to remove the used kit back to basecamp and be forced to pay a retainer to cover these expenses. They are bucking because it’s hard to get paying climbers as it is and they won’t eat that increase themselves. Will it work? I don’t know, but forcing them to held accountable and leaning on the Chinese to reduce the amount of permits sold each year. That in itself is the hardest part as it’s easy cash for them with very little work on their part.

They should make them clean up all the feces and other waste that humans have left up there, including all the bodies of those highly motivated folks that didn’t quite make it...

‘...leaning on the Chinese...”, that has not worked out that well for a lot of the world so far. Yeah, cheap shit and giving up rights to their own country. Even Aussie has sold massive water rights to the Chinese and now they are having to buy their own water back and higher rates...

It got really bad right around 96’(?) when Alpine Ascents and RMI (among others) started making Everest an achievable bucket list goal. Around that time it became extremely commercialized and ended up ruining it. Hillary and Mallory are probably in tears right now.

They are more curious than anything. It wasnt stalking you, just following, you probably had something flashy on. Flashy shit attracts them, watch, ring, bracelet, etc. Your dad was a rare occurrence, grouper attack more than barracuda but both of them are territorial which is probably why he got bit.

They are fast as hell though.

I think morays are just as dangerous, if not more so, depending on how stupid you are. This guy was idiotic. Warning: it's graphic. Turn your sound up so you can hear it.

One thing I was told at an early age was to not wear metal or any clothing with silver, white, or colorful spots and keep the spear pole tip away from my side unless using it (metal tips attract barracuda, fish on the metal tips attract pretty much everything).
Had a grouper relieve me of a decent porgy once. But the barracuda was interested in the lobster or anything else I might leave behind.
