You ever bass fish the Delta? Your new fish raft would probably be awesome in the sloughs and calmer water areas. Big smallies, largies, and spotted bass everywhere. Always a chance for stripers too.

I did alot of ocean fishing from the rocks last year, and used 3 different penn fierce 2 combos (graphite rods), along with an Ugly Stick and Daiwa FT (fiberglass). i snapped the butt section of 1 Penn graphite rod on a hook set and noticed on another penn graphite that i had a bunch of cracks in the same butt section. there were also a bunch of chips on the butt section in th ose cracks, from falling onto the rocks numerous times before. my $0.02, is to really be careful with your graphite rods! (meaning that the cause of the breakage was those chips) fiberglass for rock fishing from now on!

Definitely a good reminder. Luckily Tackle Warehouse is pretty good with returns and such, so I shouldn't have a problem with getting my money back. Just need to ship it back at this point.

Does anyone here make their own weights/jigs? Thinking about making my own again. I’ve been going through jigs like crazy over the last couple of months.... sick of spending GOBS of money on them.

Went out to the delta today. Caught this pig and gave me a hell of a fight. Just over 4lbs and it was a HOT one today.

i haven't but i probably should - i have ALOT of bullet weights, in 1/4oz, 3/8 oz? unless i start bass fishing again - and i lose alot. I bought some Rockfish/bottomfishing jigs (like 8oz, 12 oz) and man, are they expensive!

Fished around Franks Tract once. So foggy we could barely find our way around. Got skunked. Plus, I don't know squat about bass fishing.

Yeah it adds up quick! My only concern at this point would be finding the lead or other metals to use for melting down. Not sure if that stuff is readily available at this point and/or cheap.

My inflatable kayak is similar to your setup in the sense that it can be put in just about anywhere. If you’re up for it, maybe we can meet up at one of my spots one day and float up and down the banks for black bass. Mostly anywhere north of highway 12 is where the black bass fishing gets good.

That would be fun! Guess I need a rod and reel for that, though. No idea what to get. Or I could just use one of my fly rods.

You could probably get some bass on the fly rod. This time of year they are super aggressive. Last weekend when we were out, the smaller ones were coming up and grabbing our baits as soon as it would hit the water, so I’m sure a fly could do some work out there.

Made it out yesterday since they opened our lakes to Residents only. Was going to hit Clearlake but figured it’d be packed so just went out on my lake. Caught this slab before we even left the dock.

I tossed him back just cause I didn’t know the restrictions for them. But I do hear they’re tasty!
