check engine light

I installed a new Gibson exhaust and k and n intake and my check engine light came on. I called Gibson and they said theyve had reports of the light coming on after the exhaust was installed with an aftermarket intake(something with the mass airflow sensor and the o2 sensor not matching up) he said disconnect the negitive terminal on the battery to reset the computer and the car will eventually learn the code or peramiters of the new system. Doesn't seem to be working to well... Anyone else have any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I installed a Gibson cat back and AFE dryflow for the stock airbox and did the airbox mod. Not sure the code number, a friend checked it, but the code was for catalytic converter not to spec. I have reset it a few times but it comes back. Maybe space out the 02 sensor past the cat?

Mine comes on whenever it's chilly or I wash under the hood? wtf
O and my tire light is for ever on to. All my tires are fine.

06 supercharged tacoma with piaa lights and lights in my ARB.
I never have any problems starting or anything else.

Still never figured out the check engine light. Got the Gibson exhaust and ever since the check engine light comes on every few weeks. I've noticed it only happens when I'm cruising with very light throttle, low RPM. The code is for o2 sensor. I know I didn't damage it and I didn't use wd-40 or anything that would mess it up. Any ideas?

 

I bought my 2001 Tacoma V6 5spd on Labor Day 08. A few weeks after the engine light came on.. I reset the computer, and since then cut a 2x4 hole in the air box to give it more air.. Well I just read the post on the MAF sensor and thought I would check into it, and was surprised the little burger was really dirty.. I used a carb cleaner on it and it seems to work better now, because the performance is better... I hope this also improves my mileage, its been 17 mpg or worse since I bought it...

 

Don't feel bad about the tire light.. It is a toyota thing.. I have seen the light come on in my buddies Toyota Van, and also in anothers Camry.. No problems with the air pressure.. Just a glitch.. I am glad my 01 doesn't have it..

I would first clean the MAF sensor, those get prety dirty if not maintained.
And if that doesnt help, I would check the o2 sensors, bc with the new air flow the sensors could be reading differently...
