I have the 'ruggedized' version and I think it's great. If everything goes well, I should be using it next week!

Our Plan is to meet Thursday in the Laurel Highlands- camp near Mt. Davis and head into WV via lots of dirt- head through the Laurel Fork Wilderness etc. than hit the MABDR near Franklin actually or around Smokehole. Then head North into Pa till we our out of time! We will be on trail
    4 nights

Maybe. I'm 6'2" and 236lbs. I feel like I easily take up half of this tent! So I would say it really depends on the size of you and the fam.

I love mine, haven't used it but a could of times. No complaints or issues yet. I think I am going to add a mattress to mine, but the tent is great.

Hope this is the last question

    Tepui Kukeman 3
    Vs
    CVT Mt Shasta Extended Vestibule

They are priced very close. Tepui is new, CVT is “very lightly” used

CVT is a hour drive, Tepui is 4 hours.

Got one an explorer series a couple weeks ago. Have only had the chance to open and close it in my driveway. Super cool easy to setup. I did see a few of those small metal shavings that the Tuff Stuff guys are always talking about so thats a little disappointing. I thought the rain fly was just the fly, but it has 3 additional thick style poles that kind of sit on the tent body poles/bars. This means I can't just throw the fly in a small bag with the annex I got from a guy in this thread. It would need to stay on the tent or stay at home really.

I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to fit bikes and/or kayaks in my bed with the tent on since its a little longer than the ayer i was looking at and sits over the whole short bed. Shouldn't be a problem though since my cab height voodoo rack seems to provide enough clearance. My road bikes will have to have their seats dropped, but thats a rack issue, not a tent issue.

I should have mounted the rails the other way so I didn't have to cut them and just move the bars on my rack to fit. But I cut the rails and now I can't get the black caps in on one side.

It's a bit tight to get the fly awning deal out over the cab. I get nervous taking the fly poles in and out incase it slips out of my hand and slaps the shit out of my roof. May be a struggle if I get a cool roof rack like a prinsu or uptop.

It's my first rtt and I may be a bit amazed as it's still new to me. Hoping to get out this weekend to really try it out.

Don't have a pic with the tent and kayaks, but heres one with the rack and kayaks. I think they're 8 or 10 ft kayaks.

    Thanks for the review!

We’ve got a Kuat Receiver Mount bike rack. Our set up now is the KB Voodoo bed Bars with a tonneau cover. So our gear will go in totes under the cover (we Will need to crawl in) and bikes in the rear.

This is our set up now. The basket holds my CB antenna and I use it at the cabin to haul trash to the dumpster!

...Thirty minutes later, we approached the spot I'd marked to camp. On the satellite imagery, it'd looked like a finger of land that reached into the lava flow - my hope being that the lava had left a "room" in which we could camp, sheltered from the wind. In reality, there was a finger of land that rose up onto the lava flow - a fantastical camp site... for a calm night....

Have used it a couple times, and will be heading out again this weekend. Happy with it so far, but my wife and I had to upgrade to the Exped Duo Mat for some additional comfort. Also have a Teton Mammoth -7c sleeping bag.

I don’t have a Tacoma any more, I live in the Gulf. But we brought the Tepui Ruggedized XL over.

    3A91823D-1646-4083-B02C-C2989BE3FE73.jpg

Fits fine on an SUV (Mitsubishi Pajero, here) and holds two adults, a 3 yo, 1 yo, and two dachshunds (though they later bailed for the cab)
