Finally got around to doing this for mine. Had the parts sitting in the truck for a few months now. This write up helped phenomenally. A few things I did differently than the original post was solder seal covered with shrink wrap/tubing for extra protection from the handle harness, small adhesive wire holders to keep it out of the way of the window, and 3-way wire t-taps to tap in to the factory harness. Thanks for this thread, it is really appreciated.

Following the question above, I was wondering if the 2020 harness coming out of the passenger handle is available and what would be the part# for it? The idea i had was to tap the two wires straight from the handle harness instead of forcing the two single wires inside the housing.

The harness will be the same as the drivers side. They don’t sell it complete, you need to buy the housing and pins and assemble yourself.

Thanks for the quick response! I noticed on your post that you are not a big fan of cutting, taps etc. neither do I. Have you modified or change anything on your current setup? I'm ordering everything today and would like to know if there is anything else I need other than the parts mention on this thread. I have a quick sand Taco and the part# i have for the handle is 692100e080e1.

This sounds like just a solution to unlock the front passenger door when you unlock the front driver door (I guess for models that don't have head units that control what doors get unlocked when unlocking with the fob?). Doesn't say anything about adding a sensor to the front passenger door. That's the key to this thread/mod: Having a passenger side door handle sensor.

That’s where I’m confused too because of the description.

    Purpose:

The purpose of this Kit is to add a Smart Key System to the Tacoma Front Passenger Door and directly connect it with the Driver Smart Key System.

This allows you to Lock/Unlock your Front Passenger Door by running parallel with the Driver's Side Door Smart Handle when activated. Truck can be Lock/Unlock by the Key Fob or by touching either Door Handle even if the Key is on the other side of the vehicle (within 3 feet).

I messaged them for clarification but no response as of yet. If they get back to me I will post here. Just figured may be easier option for some. Including me haha

that would be awesome if she can clarify. I’d for sure be interested! I tried this mod and for some reason can’t get it working so this would be the next alternative since I have all the parts already.

Either way... you have purchase the door handle with a sensor. This solution might just be a way to do the wiring without splicing, but from what I've done... they have more wires than needed. Again, unless this is totally different from this thread/mod.

Wait... you tried the mod on this thread and couldn't get it to work? Have you reached out for help? We can help. Tell us what you've done. The biggest issue I've read everyone is having is making sure you make good contact with the connector on the new door handle... then to make sure the taps you've made to the wires going to the ECU.

Yea this isn’t my first wiring mod read about every post on this thread, double and triple checked everything. Redid t-taps made sure good connections, even cut the wires and soldered them in. Nothing... pushed the connections in to handle with pliers, can’t for the life of me get this to work... only reason I found this product was because I was looking for additional forums with other possible ideas.
I’d reach out for help but everything I read and did has already been answered. Appreciate all the posts here gave me some hope to try! Eventually gave up :/ I used 22ga wire, initially butt connectors and t-taps, swapped tap in case it got reversed, then eventually soldered. My driver side works like normal so connections are there. I guess only thing is the handle itself but those damn pins don’t go in any farther. Haha

Hey yea saw that and initially it wasn’t in all the way so now rubber sits flush and won’t go in further. Thinking about it, this part is the only thing I can think of that might be wrong but those dang wires won’t go in anymore. Even took the handle out to get more leverage. I’m baffled

I think, for me at least, that yes as you said passenger front mimics drivers actions not because I can’t change it in my head unit because I can but then it opens all doors. But this would keep the setting as drivers door (but still unlock passenger front) while keeping the backdoors locked. That’s my take on it. This allows me (both mods) to driver smart handle unluck both front doors same time (allows adult passenger/lady instant access rather that waiting), allows me to passenger front smart handle unlock without pulling out my remote and keeps the backdoors on a separate/secondary circuit than front doors.

I’ll have to go through @caribe makaira and my conversation in this thread to freshen up before I do that and this mod

I did this mod 3 years ago thanks to Victory’s excellent write up and Hokie Taco’s help. This mod should be standard on our trucks. Has it been added from the factory to the 2020’s?
