I have been dealing with something lately that I am not sure how to handle.
I have not mentioned it to anyone except my mom.

I recently in the last few weeks went to one of those storage auctions where someone forgets to pay there bill for a few months and they auction off the goods.
What I found was/has litterally changed my life a bit.

The woman who owned the storage was a female officer who served for anderson and pickin county, sc. There was alot of "unusual" stuff in there pertaining to police records, fbi documents, court cases and some personal letters she had written and not sent concerning the molestation by her father on her own daughter.

I called both pickens co. and anderson county police and said they needed to get out here and pick this stuff up concerning the court cases and things that should not just be thrown in the trash. they never showed.

I also called the ex husband and told him that there were items (baby teeth, baby pics, family pics, stuffed animals, personal Christmas stuff, unwraped presents, etc.) and told him look man. I dont care if you defulted on the storage space. I own whats in it till tomorow eve. Come get what you want.
He thanked me for being an honest person but declined to get anything and pretty much told me to burn it.

I understand him. He maybe got remarried and moved on and didnt want any of this stuff.
I then did some research and found out about a few things.

In memory of Susan Mullis. An officer of the law who past away 4 yrs ago. Who was tormented for what she went thru and for the way peaple treated you after the shooting. I commend your service. I respect and admire your accomplishments.

I have some things of Susans in my home. I always say thank you when I pass by them. I also have some unwrappped Christmas gifts that she wrapped and ment to give to her daughter. These gifts will stay unwrapped and under my Christmas tree every year from here on out.Never to be unwraped.

Had we ever met, I think we could have become close friends. She liked sniper rifles and motorcycles.

I miss you Susan although I have never met you. Everyone seemed to have abandoned you since what happened and now for some unknown reason after 4 yrs you have made a new friend.

I clicked on each link and read about that situation, terribly sad for both officers and their families.

May I ask how she passed?

Also, I think trying to find her daughter and giving her the gifts would be an amazing thing to do.

From what I understand, it was an OD. She was taking pain pills from a motorcycle wreck she was in. I would guess that it was premature heart failure. Most likely due to her loss of job which she loved. Her marital problems and pain.

This thing just dropped in my lap 2 weekends ago. There's stuff all over the net about the shooting and I felt like I had to get it out.
After seeing some of the personal items and reading the way anderson county police treated her.
I just been feeling really bad the last few days.

Lots of people talk the big talk and like to portray the "bad ass" image, but few are there when we truly need them. It seems her department was not there for her whatsoever when she needed them most.

I actually lost my mother a few years ago to a drug overdose. I was only 19 at the time and there've been countless sleepless nights since then where I ask myself what I could've done different to have been there for her.

I don't think there's anything you can do in some cases, but ive learned that true friends and a loving family are very rare, and we should do everything in our power to be there for them in the short time were on this earth together.

    How very true.
I cant find the article on her death. I had it here somewhere.
She and this fellow "Dusty" who actually shot and killed the kid were commended as heroes at first because they had found several stolen items and letter in his house describing how he was going to steel from grady's and use the guns to kill as many kids in his school as possible ad then an epic shootout with police to see how many of them he could kill.

Susan went on post tramatic stress sysdrome because her shot missed the kid and she felt like she could not protect her partner like she should.
From there her life spiraled. his has become a very personal issue for me as I have run across some very, very personal leters in her storage that neber got sent. Handwritten letters that were hidden in coffee table and bookshelves.

I am totally the guy that is "hey, none of my bussiness, do not get involved". this ws a few years ago and I feel like I have a duty to keep her name alive.
My buddy was helping me empty the storage and we were taking things to the dump before we came across her name and why.
We took some shelving and it was at that point I would not let myself be THE person who totally wiped everything that this woman had off the face of the earth. I became emotionally attached and started researching realizing that this was a pretty big deal around these parts

After gathering as much info as possible, I became totally enraged at the anderson police dept for treating her the way they did and firing her for not being able to perform. Her partner just killed a 16 yr old kid!!!!! she was off 12 months and fired her after that.
