Ok, so long story short, i had a 1999 Tacoma and i loved it. But i was starting to have a hard time paying for it so i had to sell it. I paid off the bank and bought an '88 Camaro with a built 350 in it. It is an awesome, fast car and I really like it. But at this point, a pick-up is more practical. I have been looking for something to trade straight across and found this '88 Toyota pick-up. It only has 158,000 miles on it. Does this truck look like a good deal or should I keep the car and keep looking?

the old v6's are junk. Definitely look for a 4 cyl in the older trucks.

I had a 93 single cab 4x4 with the 2.4 4 cylinder 22re in it. great little truck. I have heard the v6's blow the gaskets like mad. Had my truck in the family since day one until about 3 years ago. didn't do much repairs on it at all. Little things that you would expect but not too bad.

Both. They have problems with blowing head gaskets and are just barely faster than the 4cyl.

nope. The 4cyl (22re) is probably one of the best motors toyota ever made. My mom's old 4 runner 22re had about 300k miles on it before it needed work.

Is the v6 in this truck the same one that was in the 95 4Runner?

Haha alright. My first car was a 95 4Runner and my brother blew the head gasket in that.

I might get it and eventually swap another motor into it.

The 3.0 is fairly easy to swap a 3.4 in its place. A little more work for a truck with a 22re
