Shit run without tag lights here you'll just get a little pink fix-it ticket if that and be on your way.

The way I'd do it you won't have to cut the factory plugs off.

Well shoot me a PM on how to do this. I’m gonna pick up some T wire taps connectors so I can tap, instead of cut and splice!

Is that all you have left is the regear?

I wish I could use the factory tag lights in my bumper, unfortunately it didn’t come with cutouts, so I have to go aftermarket.

No, I need a transmission mount, some axel seals, hubs and ADD switch. Also need to get @BamaTaco56 to modify my crossmember but that wont happen until the truck is already on jack srands and old trans is out. Hubs and regear is the only things left that are worth $$$.

Design of the bumper and the design of the 3rd gen tag lights don't work. We aren't the only ones out there that aren't set up for 3rd gen tag lights. They are different than the 2nd gens in how they are put in the bumper. 3rd gen problems.

Gonna need @tweakit88 help as well on this overhaul. @JBTacoma too if he wants to help.

Thinking of videoing the process and putting it on youtube since no one has ever made a how to video on it.

Yeah what Skip said! The 3rd gens are counter sunk into the bumper, unlike the 2nd gens, which mount on the bumper face. Plus the bumper has a beautiful trailer enamel paint job and I’d hate to ruin it by attempting to cut 1.5” squares into it.

Yeah the 3rd gen tag light assemblies slide into a recessed hole where the 2nd gen is just a clipped on housing. With the space that we have at the license plate light area for the trailer plug and stuff the angles just didn't work to put the 3rd gen ones on.

They still wouldn't illuminate well as the angles aren't right. Idky toyota went to that design or to a half plastic bumper design in the first place.

@cubie the license plate lights have a sub harness so if you cut the plugs off it's not the end of the world the sub harness is around 30 bucks if you ever went back to stock.

Toyota ought to be kicked in the balls for putting a plastic bumper on a truck!

I’ll do that! The tag lights are what’s holding me back from installing it, or else I’d be rocking it right now!
