    Wife just came back from walking the dog after I came in and said turkeys in the field . I Drove down the road to check the field . 5 long beards and 3 hens not 100 yards from where I was set up . WTF

    Slept in!

    I went out at 830 . Got between roosting area and field where we see them all the time .

    Probably 300 yards of woods between . Sat until 10 while doing some clucking and yelping every 20 minutes . Nothing . Moved down to last 100 yards behind the field and heard a Tom sounding off at crows . Crawled in off logging road and set up .Waited for another gobble and called to him .. he came with in 75 yards and strutted back and forth gobbling . He kept moving like he was going away then would come back. He did this a half dozen times . When he sounded like he was going away I crawled in the opposite direction and circled around in front of him on the edge of the field . Maybe 150 yards in front of him where I have been before on the edge of the field.. now it’s 1143 17 minutes to go . Called once and waited ...... nothing Had some action anyway :thumbsup:

    Starting to get frustrated this season; every time I've been able to get out in the woods it's been windy as hell (or snowing, like it did on Saturday, so I stayed in). My dawn stand yesterday had so much wind noise that I could have had a whole collection of Toms in the tree I was leaning against and I wouldn't have known it. Died down a little in the afternoon, but still probably 10-15mph pretty constantly. I found a slightly more sheltered spot to sit in, but I bet my calls weren't carrying very far.

    Yeah, the ticks are a problem here too. I spray down pretty good with the OFF Deep Woods but still find the occasional crawler afterwards.
