It's surface rust on extremely hot piping; nothing to worry about. I wouldn't put fluid film on components behind the heat shields. You could always use some hi-temp exhaust paint though.

Here is my New Jersey truck - pictures taken last November right after washing it down before spraying Fluid Film.

Not too bad as far as rusting imo.

I love the rust threads. One spec of rust and everybody freaks out. “Is this covered under warranty” lmao hit it was some cheap paint and move along. Steel rust.

Welcome. That’s just surface rust, it’s just how bare steel reacts to atmosphere brah. It’s not going to compromise the strength on your spindle. No worries there.

I just cleaned wheeled and re painted with a can of rustoleum skids sliders rear diff because apparently I drag ass often enough to not have any paint left the factory tow hitch and crossmembers too.

Even though it appears the factory did a heavy paint coating on the chassis I just did mine with cosomline. That stuff is more permeant instead of applying fluid every year.

Which product did you go with? The Rust Cure DIY kit? We don't use much salt in the Canadian prairies but when we do, they slush the highways to shit. What was your experience like? Any installation pointers?

Looks like cast iron manifold rust which is perfectly normal on most vehicles.

Look at the exhaust manifold on my Corvette Grandsport when brand new.

That’s just the exhaust manifold. They always rust. They can’t be painted because of how hot they get, even high temp paint won’t withstand the heat that close to the exhaust ports. Don’t put anything on it and don’t worry about it, just drive it.

I used a product called "Corrosion Free). They are a franchised business that started in Ney York, I believe. Go to their home page and you can see if you have a dealer near you.

I just searched and found a dealer in Regina, so it must be out there as well.

They are expensive ($200 or so) excellent warranty.....I doubt that it will be needed. You can "cheap out" and get it initally because they cover the whole truck...inside and out.

Then do as you feel fit. I do mine yearly because ONTARIO...:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

It also stops creaks and squeeks....

Check it out....."if ya wanna keep 'er"

Agreed. Neither are fun. Not sure what else to do in the Midwest though.
